Hi guys,

Have a set of CSC (AKA Bmax or Ark Design) brakes for my R32 GTR. They are 4 pot 343x32mm jobbies and I have managed to crack the disks so I need to replace them.

I'm finding it difficult to find replacement rotors that will fit my current hats as the PCD appears to be (at my best ruler measurement) 222mm while the most common PCD for this size appears to be 215.9 and also 228.6. I guess my other option would to buy or have some new hats made with the more common PCD but that's starting to be big dollars.

If all else fails I think I can get some replacements from Ark Design but as my current ones has cracked fairly badly I'm trying to source new options, any ideas or suggestions?

Cheers

Simon

I've used these brakes for 7 years on my R32 (although they are 355mm 6 pot fronts) and have been through a few rotors. There are $750 a pair, which is pretty good value. The next real option is to go to Harrop and pay ~$1,000 each. They'll last longer however I don't think the extra life makes up for the cost based on my experience.

Looking at your front rotors in your build thread, they don't look like BMAX originals as BMAX are all 36 vane. Did you buy the package new?

I would confirm the PCD with Sebastian at Ark Design and go from there. ALCON and AP would also be other options if you really wanted to go with other options however I'm unsure of the cost.

Given that track days are harder on rotors than racing, you have done remarkably well considering how much meat was taken off :)

I wasn't blaming the rotor, just looking for viable options. I've sent Ark Design a message on ebay, hopefully will get a response soon

Kit came of my white S15, good to see them getting used properly Simon.

They were on the car when I bought it from ARK (demo car). Fyi did maybe 1500-2000 street driving from memory before the car came off the road. Prior to that I'm not sure what ARK put them through.

    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
    • I'm not going to recommend an EBC pad. I don't like them. Just about anything else would suit me better. I've been using Intima pads for a while now.
    • Agreed, and in particular the earth strap that should go from the subframe to the chassis but it often broken or left off. There is a section in the R32 workshop manual you can follow for troubleshooting if you don't see anything suspicious, and depending where you are (there is no location on your user profile) you should be able to get your hands on a second hand replacement unit still if needed
    • Yeah they mention as a R34 for 2.5 Turbo...but then again thos "small" were also for R34 by that different site. But i look into it and that 310mm EBC is for R34 GTT. And by those you linked the specs are the same 🙂    EDIT: I found these on one site here: DBA 4000 series T3 DBA42304S They are 310mm...and it says are for R34GTT...are there good? EDIT2: ok they have pads too.  What "color" should i get for street use? I dont want/need some noisy ones...(and if they are not that dusty that is good too)
    • Yeah, shame. Maybe  driver's carpet is available 🙏. I am waiting for both amayama and nangun to confirm.
