I'm not too sure as to whether my car is really a build up. I'm not doing any of the work but I sure am throwing all my money into it if that counts.

Started off with a race only s13 rolling shell that I was stripping and getting ready for paint. Bought a crashed r32gtst on ebay with a rb25det conversion in it from interstate with intentions of transferring it into the s13. I did an excel sheet up and couldn't justify spending all that money on a track only car. So I bought an R32 gts-t with an rb20det showing head gasket issues (bought it for the rego).
So this is where the money trail begins :D

First "My Goals" for the build:

- I want the car to remain stock looking on the outside with all the money where it should be.
- I want to use quality brands from now on and not cheap knock off's
- Nis-tuned with a goal of 230rwkw + (I'm not too sure what to expect atm)

Spec's so far:
RB25DET series 2 motor and gearbox (custom made HD gearbox mount)
Top mount TO4E T3/T4 turbo (looking at upgrading atm)
Exedy HD clutch
FMIC with custom piping to use existing holes in the engine bay
TEIN's all round (not installed)

42mm alloy radiator with twin thermo's (not installed)
GATES water pump and timing belt kit (not installed)

Stock r32 gts-t rims with Toyo R1R's on the front and cheapies on the rear

Plans to put 32 GTR carbon bonnet, grill, boot and spoiler but painting a white coat on the exterior to take the attention away from the colour change. Will still be lighter than the OEM parts

update:
Went through the stage of not knowing whether i wanted to keep the car or not as there is still another 4-5k to get it where id like it.. so I hadn't done much till now.. Gave me time to save for stuff and still have money left over i guess though.

Installed gates timing kit, HA teins and twin thermo's since last post
Just bought:
- BPP top feed aftermarket fuel rail
-14mm 1000cc injectors
- fuel regulator
- a better bov to plumb back in
- eboost street bc
- a gear knob so i can change gears haha
- HKS pod filter kit with z32 afm
- Still deciding what fuel setup to go and whether i go an e85 tune or 98.. its not a daily so filling up is not an issue
Not getting the carbon stuff anymore.. cant be bothered spending the $$$$

Next is to install all the stuff and get a nistune.. aiming for a bit more now 285-300rwkw.. probably pump around 15-16psi through on the tune

Next to buy is :
R33 gtr brembo brakes
Clean up all the lines in engine bay and go braided for everything that can be.

Will post pics of dyno sheet in a month or so as it'l probably take me that long haha

All below has been installed!!

(10/06/14) Tomei 256 degree 8.5mm lift poncams, tomei ex camgear, front adjustable castor rods , eboost street 2 bc(mounted in the centre console) , GFB bov, aeromotive intank stealth 340lp/h fuel pump , Bosch 1000cc half size sidemount 14mm injectors with turbosmart fuel regulator and aftermarket fuel rail to suit, hks pod kit , r35gtr afm, Splitfire coilpacks, crank angle sensor and varex remote twin tip muffler. Goes in for the united e85 tune(e85 is close to home and close to work so just makes sense) this thursday/ friday night.

I'l buy another sd card reader so I can post up pics because i know reading isn't very much fun without some visual goodies :)

285-300rwkw on caltex e-flex (not united e85, some reason i had e85 in my head haha) if i cant get that il go a low mount 3076r and aim for higher.

Still need to upgrade front brakes, delete abs unit which is leaking and get a hicas elimination kit

bummed. Car wasnt ready. custom fan shroud wasnt ready so no fan on the car equals no tune. didnt bother taking a picture of engine bay as it still needs some wiring cleaned up. looked pretty neat though. also looked super stealth with the newly installed varex twin tip..

Could be another week + to go. Mechanic's can't wait to get it out of their workshop haha. so many things have come up delaying getting this car ready for a tune.

So the car's been in for tuning this week but it isn't looking promising. Turbo is worse than I was lead to believe from the seller. At the moment it won't hold more than 16psi  which is only getting 230rwkw right now, ill know the exact figure in the next few days. I really don't know whether I can be bothered putting money into another turbo or just selling it to someone else as a great platform for more power. Might just wait for my tax return before I make up my mind.

Tune is done and I'm picking her up tomorrow. Car made better progress but still not as close to 300 as i'd have liked. A high boost setting of 16psi and a low boost of 12psi. I'll post the dyno sheet tomorrow with exact figures :w00t:

    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
    • BTW I measured the jack I have, it is 70mm at the saddle but you only have about 700 until it returns to 150mm high at the cylinder so it is good but no magic bullet.
