Heya gents n gals,

Just after some advice regarding mounting of an ebc in my mates c34, am throwing a blitz dual SBC in and am looking at places to mount the controller in the car, a vac line has to go to the unit for boost reference, so got a keep that in mind.

I just can't find anywhere that's discreet and still visible.

Don't want it on the steering column, way too obvious, same on the dash, not very sleeper, down by the knees is a bit hard to view, and not much space since the brake release and coin tray are there.

Was thinking of dremeling out the ashtray and mounting it inside there, but it ts not very visible, was thinking inside the glovebox, like Velcro to the roof of it, but then u gota drive round with the glovebox open to see boost.....

So, I'd like suggestions and pics...got bout 12hours or so until i get to it... Hoping weather holds out and we make it to the motorplex with the new round of mods....

Done a bit of searching through the forums and couldn't find anything stag specific to this.

Cheers

I know its not in the dash, but I mounted mine on the top of the steering column in my Supra and on the Bottom side of my dashboard in my ER34.

In my 34 I had installed it in the small compartment on the lower right side of the dashboard. IDK if the C34 has that but if it does, my Profec fit perfectly, all I had to to was drill a small hole in the back for the wires.

Or you could mount in the position that the turbo timer is mounted in this celica. Clean accessible, but not clearly visible from outside the car.

Just my 2 cents. :)

c34 has the coin compartment on the lower rhs, theres a fuse box directly behind it, so my only concern is clearance, can i do it without kinking any of the lines, visibility is low there, but thats essentially where ive mounted my ebc in my aristo...

cant mount it as per celica due to the coin compartment handle being there...

thanks for the suggestions so far, keep it coming guys!

how do u manage that with the handbrake lever being there?

i ended up taking the latch off the coin compartment and mounting it on the door of the compartment, drilling holes for the wiring loom. somebody at sum point has used a silicon based cleaner on the trims tho, coz double sided tape doesnt stick, so will use some iso n clean the trims so the door stays shut on the compartment.

now the issue is the infamous stutter round 4-4.5k ony got to a peak of 8.9psi stutters like f*k, but clears out by 5ish like all other rb's do!

turned the boost controller off and its still running 6.9psi and still stuttering...my 2jz doesnt have these issues....

Had a look at the car today, its running iridium's at 1.1mm, so will b chucking sum coppers in there tomorrow and will gap them to .8

My mate is most unhappy to hear bout the ecu not liking boost. Splitfires seem to have a good reputation amongst rb ppls, so have recommended that to him too...

Money money money, I spent 4k on my car just recently, so I cant really comment...

    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
    • Well they got my money but they are not getting my gearbox !
    • It's needed for rolling idle up, and I think it is a decider on VCT also.
    • I mean, not really. Link ECU's can absolutely still have errors from the ECU thinking it's getting a sensor it's not expecting. I would imagine the speed at the ECU level in Nistune does absolutely nothing anyway? I assume the ECU does not do any fancy TC stuff with regards to front+rear wheel speed or anything of that like anyway. Someone who uses Nistune may be more fluent in it.
