Hey all

Took the track car out to the 1/4 mile drags on the weekend.

Wasnt a full on meet or anything more a come and try / test.

My HUGE problem was bogging down hard at the start, not being able to launch at all.

Running slicks i couldnt get off the line at all.

Car is a r33 gtst has 335kws, manual etc

it didnt matter how many revs i put through it nothing was working for me.... any ideas??

Once off the line and going was strong

What time did it run? What 60 ft? Post the slip please.

Your running a 3076r hta right? That should get on boost pretty quick. Perhaps it's down to the tune, did you get the temp sensor in place and a retune yet?

I was out there in my stagea , had dramas first pass and couldn't be stuffed sorting it. Ran a 13.5 at 105 woth a 2.48 60 ft. with problems from a half track. 1 second slower than last time but still 2 seconds quicker than the other stag out there! The extra lag of gt35 and stock converter certainly didn't help...... was a bit over the car lately so happy to just park it.

I didn't notice your car, I would have said hi.

Hey mate i didnt get the slips from it. i cbf was pissy lol... i should have but threw in the towel after 3 runs. Will get back out as soon as the car is better sorted.

Na its still not sorted at all, boost comes on late still. The only reason i ask there was a few stockish 32s and 33s getting off the line a hell of a lot better then me with less hp.

I can only remember it ran into the high 12s each time

Was yours the white stag??

I was there late late. as i wasnt going to do it then decided to....

But had my bright yellow LH torana out there early if you saw that? but also had trouble on the day with that also.. hence why the towel was thrown in early and no slips were got lol.. all round had a shit day lol.

The Torana should run into the 11s but best that was sqeezed out was 12.3 with it breaking down from launch to mid track then ran perfect from there

My stagea is silver, the white one was running 15s.

I saw the torana and could hear it misfiring etc. Looked tidy though. Drag racing is heaps frustrating sometimes hey!

Don't be afraid to use the anti lag.

Ah ok didnt see your silver one

Yer was missing but in second gear from mid track onwards was strong so will have to look into it. changed the carby jets and timing on the fly which made a little difference but will take it back and chuck it on the dyno and getting it back up....

Actually the Torana could have been petrol issue. was running avgas but couldnt get any so added 100 octane to it.. so it may not have liked the mixture.

So thats when we decided to shelve it and got my car out only for that to have problems lol....

bloody cars

and right now im in two minds....

I love drags and doing like mallanats etc.. but i wanted this car as an alrounder. like have a crack at drifting, hill climbs etc....

But a 2 speed power glide would make a big difference..........

You never answered what rpm you were launching at? The guy you were answering has a GTR, he may as well be the same as a GTS25t on slicks. On sticky tyres I was needing to launch mine over 6000rpm with a normal GT3076R.

What kind of trap speeds were you running, out of interest?

Ahh ok yer i have slicks on it.

i was launching from, started trying at 4000 then to 5000 then eased it off the line which actually did the best.....

Trap speed was around 110. i should have kept the slips, but between both cars had a frustrating day!

    • It's definitely not firing order. But I think it should also be made clear that the output that gets fired is the one that corresponds to the input that was switched at the ECU. So you could scramble them up totally so that the numbers meant nothing, and so long as you had the inputs and outputs matched up, you'd be fine. The reason I make that point is that blanket statements about what it is supposed to be don't always hold out in a world where there's been 30 years for the wiring to have been stuffed with.
    • Hello, im asking about this guy - coil igniter on rb25det series 1 r33 s1 engine. I need to know if pins on coil side indicate coils itself from 1-6 or it’s firing order so pin nr1 goes to 1st fired spark plug:(1pin-1firing spark, 2pin-5order firing spark, 3-3, 4-6, 5-2, 6-4…)   photo: https://files.fm/f/k9pdug38uq
    • Remove it. Certainly from the hub face. I'm not in love with leaving it on the wheel assembly surface either - but if it is common to do so, then....maybe fair enough. It's not difficult. Just time consuming. For the hub face you just need a large enough block and suitable grades of abrasive paper to get it off flat. The same would be true of the assembly face. Just more time consuming, probably needing a lot more care. It's defo going to be easier just to assemble the wheels as is, seal them up, and check them periodically to see if there's any movement or loosening of the fasteners, than it will be to remove it though.
    • Hello, I got my wheels powder coated and they've powder coated bloody everything the mating surface and hub (even told them not to lol) anyway should I leave it or remove it. (Would be very hard) I've searched a lot and lots of powder coaters don't mask the mating surface but do mask the hub surface. How bad it powder coat on the mating surface or hub? My question is what should I do?
    • Yeah, R34 with RB25DE likely has a 4AX01 box in it, which is a medium duty auto ~ with the RB25DET mill, it would've been fitted with 4AX00 (4AX13) heavy duty build (same case, different internals). An RB25DET will lunch on a medium duty 4R01 auto in pretty short order ...to give you some visual idea of differences between the 'medium' and 'heavy duty' boxes, you only have to look at the 2/4 band for comparison...it's chalk and cheese...(plus bigger high clutch, extra pinion in the planetary sets, higher oil pump output, different bearings, higher TC stall speed )... You can control them with just about any aftermarket TCU for electric-over 4-speed with TC lockup clutch (ie; the GM 4L60E and others)...I have a custom standalone TCU that includes MAP sensor (for turbo applications) along with TPS, RPM, and line pressure monitoring...in other words, I don't use any ECU signals...no real need to.
