If you are looking for better cooling, check out this Autospeed article first:

http://www.autospeed.com/A_2159/cms/article.html

most bonnent vents will *increase* underbonnet temps.

Also for those raising the back of the bonnet that also does not assist cooling, check out this article:

Properly designed kits placed in properly designed positions can improve things, but cutting a couple of holes in your bonnet will not help

true carbon fibre shatters on high impacts and is less likely to harm anyone u hit than fibre glass...

personally i think they would look gay... i would just get a glass one and paint it... should only cost about 250 to paint a bonnet not including the inside (no need to).

Heres 2 pics of the dodgy bonnet I did.

Basically it was illegal and I did consult the pits in WA about it. I did cut out part of the bonnet support, so the bonnet was a bit floppy. And they said the size of that vent would have been fine IF i ducted the vent soley to the radiator core. The Radiator cap and hoses could not be visible from the top of the vent, so it would have had to be totally sealed. But despite the main support being cut out, if I had strengthened around the vent to give it more rigidity it would have also been ok. The guys at the Pits discussed this with collegues for over an hour!

Also I will note, that from testing using the standard plastic intercooler plumbing on the CA18 Motor, with the vented bonnet the plastic was very cool, if not cold compared to the other intercooler plumbing in the car. With a normal bonnet on it was stinking hot. And yes, you could see a shitload of hot air escaping out of it.

I made the vent with an angle grinder and alot of glass and bog. It was a weekend job. Not sure if my Cefi is going to see the same treatment though :)

AN EXACT REPLICA OF THE R34 GT-R V-Spec II NACA Duct is AVAILABLE FROM

www.kenlowe.com.au in Qld> Raceglass composites > Bodies,Scoops > Scroll down to NACA Ducts 3"

This is an easy company to deal with.

It sits directly over the turbo and no bonnet-reinforcement needs to be cut away.

Mesh made by SAAS can be easily obtained from Autobarn etc.

^^^

I wonder what the Nissan R&D findings are, with regard to the single NACA Duct on the R34 GT-R VS II and the pair on the R35.

By the way, I am in the Cosmetic and Styling Mods section aren't I?

Oh yes.... yes I am!

^^^ hehe... Yep :P

The F/G one costs $45 + GST + Post = $62 to your door.

It can then be fitted from below the bonnet where it'll be moulded and where the hole is cut via a template.

It's OK to PM me with your E-mail for pics of the finished product!

    • If it (the code) wasn't still current, it should have gone away by itself by now. No, nothing it 10/10. But it is quite likely. Everything else to do with the ignition could still be responsible (which is wires and connectors). The car is an old piece of shit now, so all the wires and connectors are also old pieces of shit.
    • Lock me in mate, although I'm not sure if I'll be heading up from Goulburn or down from Sydney, either way, return will be back to Goulburn

    • Before I get to the test day, just to finish off the android head unit. This is a demo from car start up....the standard/host system takes a few seconds to boot (same as all v37) but Android comes up quickly. In this vid I'm using the delivered launcher but have set the default to Agami since which is easier to navigate when if use primarily 5 apps. You can see the host system still takes over when required eg putting it in reverse, and you can switch between Android and not by holding the back button 3 sec. It is pretty responsive (fast) but you can see I had to press harder than expected a couple of times.  I still have the phone connected to the stock system, and that also seamlessly takes over Android music playing. v37-android-demo.mp4 The bigger reason that I put this in though is so that I can use Ecutek directly on the head unit. That gives me a dash with logging (up to 20MB only), high and low value warnings on any parameter etc etc. I've run a USB cable from the Ecutek OBD dongle to a USB input on the unit, easy. v37-ecutek-demo.mp4   The unit did freeze on the launcher the other day, I think Agami was trying to verify the license when it didn't have a data connection...will monitor and report back if there are any other problems but so far I'm very happy with the upgrade.
    • Nah that is just crappy GPS mapping, I did have a small excursion (cold tyres, damp track, surprise!), will post up that when I get a chance.
