Hi all,

I'm getting a new clutch put in next week and was thinking to change out the gearbox and transfer case fluids while I'm at it.

I've read mixed responses on various posts about Castrol Transmax Z being used in the just the gearbox, some say just the transfer case and some say both.

Can anyone confirm which is correct?

Also, i anyone can let me know how much fluid the transfer case and the gearbox take that would be much appreciated.

Thanks everyone!

I don't know if transmax is the correct gearbox fluid for an R34, but I do know that it does not run gearbox oil in the gearbox so it may be ok.

The xfer case takes 1.8 litres

Thanks guys. Yep the R34 getrag definitely uses atf and I'm pretty sure that the transmax is a good substitute for the gearbox (from what I've read on the forums). I've heard it will take anywhere between 5-7L but since I have a 5L bottle sitting at home wasn't sure whether I should pick up another one for the mechanic in case they run short. Also not sure whether it can also be used for the transfer case because if so another bottle should just about cover the two.

Thanks
