act seems weird :D

all they did for mine was eng/vin number check, made sure there was no oil leaks, did a brakes test, wheelbase check, lights test and told me that i should prob remove my ebc cos cops dont like them ;)

none of this "wheres ur owners manual stuff... weird

btw i thought 4 seaters arent allowed to have baby capsule restraints?

  • 2 months later...

I just called the Registry and spoke to a young lady.

She was very helpful. Informed me that I DO NOT need to go over Dickson. Any authorised inspection station is fine.

This was because the vehicle has been australian complianced and registered in another state already.

She was quite clear about it.

I wonder if it has something to do with the vehicle being more the 10 years old??

Interesting that you all had to go over Dickson.

Ahh just checked the rego site (http://www.rego.act.gov.au) and they have removed the condition for all imports to go over dickson.

Sorry for giving you wrong information, a few months back it had to be taken over dickson, and also specified it on the above mentioned website.

Right...

So does that mean that even an imported car which has been in australia and registered in say NSW for a few years still requires to go into Dickson for a rego check??

I just purchased an R33 so I'm keen to get rego in the ACT.

Paul

They have taken out the condition that imports must go over dickson, but

any car that has never been rego'd in the A.C.T before must go over dickson for an ID Check before it can be transfered to A.C.T rego.

damn i guess we timed it badly nick?

for those that dont know i registered mine in the ACT about 2months after nicks and i got screwed around bigtime in regard to not knowing where to go. in the end they were ok with me at dickson, a young guy dave who works there was simply wonderfull to deal with.

but its much more helpfull to be able go to a mechanic and have it checked, and 1st things 1st i'd like to recomend ed out at integra automotive in queenbeyan. as many of the guys will agree (esp nick and ewan) he's a great guy, a great mechanic, and it would be a very good idea for you to have him do the inspec for you.

can he do ACT checks even though hes in queanbeyan?

what we need is a real skyline owner's manual. something that contains more info than the stock bits of rubbish people seem to be getting. something people can download off a site, print it off, bind it and keep in their glove box.

my manual isn't bad, fairly detailed. the pix are a bit rubbish though (photocopy of a photocopy). probably wouldn't be that tough to collate some of the stuff on this forum into a proper manual.

    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
