N I B
how many 9000rpm SRs do you want? they are great engines. We have 2.2 and 2.4 kits. 2.2 is stock stroke but 2.4 is the 2.2 with stroker crank. pentae
Roy your a class act, keep it up. If only people tried to have fun more and stop being so serious all the time. Make sure you keep everyone posted on the turnout of the event. Even if you do just end up drinking a slab of beer together instead of running ... So you can get 2.4L stroker kits for SR20s? What stroke do they end up with? Or did you mean RB20s Just to clarify... i dont think there is any real difference, comes back to turbo setup and bolt on combination more then SR v RB. Rezz
remember as well your giving me 100 kgs In car weightThat and the fact that 80% of the SR20 sits behind the front struts in the R32 (a la Honda S2000) is the other reason why this conversion makes heaps of sense. Although I do agree with Roy about keeping the Skyline a "Skyline"... but what can you do? The SR20>R32 combo is too good to pass up IMO. Are Cefiros 100kg lighter then a GTST? Sheesh... the superior RB will have to show its worth by even lugging the heavier R32 shell and my girth down the strip...you wouldnt happen to weigh 160kgs would you meggala, hence the 4 door? funkymonkey
"Even though its a big single turbo setup, since it isn't a daily driver the owner (Yamaguchi) has chosen to go with a T51R KAI. With a maximum boost pressure of 2.2kg/m2 it generates around 650PS late in the power band at high RPMS. However instead of coming on at an exact RPM, it comes in gradually from 5800 rpm to 9000 rpm. Therefore it isn't difficult to drive and manage. When the big turbo's of other companies are compared the amount of torque generated by this turbo puts it in an entirely different class. In order to put this power to the ground a pair of Nitto 315's are used on the rears, also 20kg weight is placed in the boot to increase traction." RB26_S15
Dont get me wrong i love the SR20, but a Quote taken from 'Speed' The HKS turbocharger (T51R KAI) wants to keep providing boost as the revs climb, but basic geometry of the SR20DET proves to be unhappy above 8500rpm. DoughBoy
1) Alloy block. 2) Rocker arms 3) Chain driven cams/distributor Why would people try to get insane power out of an RB20 when it's too easy to just throw in an RB26? I've read an article on a twin turbo RB20 (2.4) that does high 9's in an R32, but it's expensive to prove a point with an R20 (compared to an RB30 or 26). If this isnt what he intended to say, then its a comment id like to make...i think the point he was trying to make is that ppl dont chase numbers out of RB20s because of its bigger brothers, not because of any design flaw. Where as the SR20 is more commonly built for big numbers as its the common 4 cylinder turbo engine for S13/14/15, and has some aspects of its design that are not ideal for such an application. I so want to build up an RB20 but it doesnt make sense when i can go bigger, but if i had an S15 i wouldnt even consider a transplant, id chase power from the SR...which by the way suck balls Someone give Meggala 10 grand, then someone give me 10 grand....lets go racing and find out Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/45539-650ps-sr20det/page/2/#findComment-929974 Share on other sites
funkymonkey
how bout someone just saves the 20 grand he gives to you and megz and just gives it to me, and I'll make my RB20DE n/a engine beat all of yas money can do anything, how much you wanna push it and which path you wanna take is personal choice I reckon these days. Engineering has come along a long way where if something brakes and you have the money you replace it with a stronger item. Thus enabling you to potentially build ANY engine no matter how shit it is out of the factory into a record beating item. jtir
You guys almost seem shocked that a SR20 is capable of generating that much power. Look more closely to home soil, in particular DEVLSH is a good example.
