How well is the ESP vs the Jackson?

I am still undecided between the 2...

Or LTD, cheaper version of an ESP but now a days they have both got top models.

i did have problems with the pots in the epiphone but when i changed the pickups in my jackson to EMGs, i took the jackson pots and chucked em in the epi... no problems since... although i will be chucking EMGs in the epi at some stage too...

both of those guitars were around the $2000 mark (they are a fair bit cheaper now though), to be honest i prefer the ESP/LTD it's got a nice heavy mahogany body for some great tone and sustain and the set neck is really nice. i actually use the jackson as a backup for the ESP/LTD. don't get me wrong, i love em both... you really need to try em out and once you buy one set it up properly.

I will be getting one of these in the not too distant future -> http://www.espguitars.co.jp/edwards/cy/E-CY-165CTM.html

That is awesome!

Geesus! $2000, I really cannot justify myself spending that much on a guitar... Hell yeah they are absolutely awesome but still... Feels like I need to buy insurance for a $2000 guitar LOL!

Yeah I had a feeling the ESP would be a all rounder nicer guitar.

I love the twin EMG humbuckers and the single coil pick up. "CHUG CHUG" all the way LOL!

My next guitar I plan to get, I will be putting on gauge 54 - 11 strings in C tuning, get it all set up like my other guitars.

I like to play a lot of Metalcore / Tech Death Core and ESP sounds perfect for it.

But a lot of ppl are suggesting and also using Gibson / Les Paul guitars... Nice guitars but I don't like the look of them and I don't see what the hype is all about.

Sure they have been around for a long time and make great products... Maybe they do produce a very good sound...

Farken hell that ESP Horizon FR-II look sic!

So how many guitars is that? LOL!

So for an ESP, you are looking for at least spending $1500 + for a top model... Yeah?

Is there anything below $1000 mark but still a decent guitar?

Your obviously in a band yeah...

My drumkit is on eBay right now :( Sadly have to sell it due to neighbours. I've still got all of my guitars though :O

You sold your drum kit so you could watch that lame ass TV show? YOU IDIOT.

I didn't know you play drums. We should get together for a jaaaaaaam.

Yeah cool I check it all out.

Thanks!

Yeah I was in a Punk band.

I left cuz the other guitarist wanted full control over what the band wanted to play.

Then the Bass and Drummer left cuz they realised the guitarist was an idiot, until then they understood why I left.

Now I am just writing some acoustic tracks with a friend and there is still development with my other friends of a Metalcore band, but nothing solid yet...

I have Peavey Studio Pro 112 (single cone... Like 1 speaker or whatever you call it) amp and an AXL Amp Rapture Series quad box - http://www.axlguitars.com/aarap100hr412c.html

There are better ones out there but this only cost me $750 with the Head and Quad box. + I run my guitars through a Boss Metal Zone pedal anyway.

I didn't know you play drums. We should get together for a jaaaaaaam.

If you supply the drum kit then I'm down for that :whistling: I haven't played in about 12 months though so I'd be rusty as.

I also play a few other instruments...

www.myspace.com/jeremydrakeford

^^ some of my stuff.

just a question - what are those 'head' amp do... are they any better than the one with speaker and amp built in 1 box

The Head is a separate unit that sits on top of the Quad box (4 big speakers in one box).

It contains all the controls like Volume, Treble, Mid Tones, Bass, Distortion / Gain, Reverb ect.

The more money you spend the better sound and more controls you will have.

I guess they are separate because it's is easier to carry and you can't fit the Head in the quad box cuz the 4 speakers have taken up all the room.

so the head unit itself don't have speakers in them?

I think for my own home use /hobby guitar, i'd be better off getting a small practice amp then :-)

That is correct (As pictured below) the Head unit does not have speakers in them.

marshallmg100stack.jpg

Just sits on top of the Quadbox and is connected be a short guitar lead from behind + there is a Power input in it as well + other inputs for effects pedals and pre amps etc.

You can still use the Stack (Head + Quadbox) at home, just turn it down LOL!

They are mainly used for playing shows.

Hobby / home use, small amp will be fine.

    • Hi, SteveL Thank you very much for your reply, you seem to be the only person on the net who has come up with a definitive answer for which I am grateful. The "Leak" was more by way of wet bubbles when the pedal was depressed hard by a buddy while trying to gey a decent pedal when bleeding the system having fitted the rebuilt BM50 back in the car, which now makes perfect sense. A bit of a shame having just rebuilt my BM50, I did not touch the proportioning valve side of things, the BM50 was leaking from the primary piston seal and fluid was running down the the Brake booster hence the need to rebuild, I had never noticed any fluid leaking from that hole previously it only started when I refitted it to the car. The brake lines in the photo are "Kunifer" which is a Copper/Nickel alloy brake pipe, but are only the ones I use to bench bleed Master cylinders, they are perfectly legal to use on vehicles here in the UK, however the lines on the car are PVF coated steel. Thanks again for clearing this up for me, a purchase of a new BMC appears to be on the cards, I have been looking at various options in case my BM50 was not repairable and have looked at the HFM BM57 which I understand is manufactured in Australia.
    • Well the install is officially done. Filled with fluid and bled it today, but didn't get a chance to take it on a test drive. I'll throw some final pics of the lines and whatnot but you can definitely install a DMAX rack in an R33 with pretty minor mods. I think the only other thing I had to do that isn't documented here is grind a bit of the larger banjo fitting to get it to clear since the banjos are grouped much tighter on the DMAX rack. Also the dust boots from a R33 do not fit either fyi, so if you end up doing this install for whatever reason you'll need to grab those too. One caveat with buying the S15 dust boots however is that the clamps are too small to fit on the R33 inner tie rod since they're much thicker so keep the old clamps around. The boots also twist a bit when adjusting toe but it's not a big deal. No issues or leaks so far, steering feels good and it looks like there's a bit more lock now than I had before. Getting an alignment on Saturday so I'll see how it feels then but seems like it'll be good to go
    • I don't get in here much anymore but I can help you with this.   The hole is a vent (air relief) for the brake proportioning valve, which is built into the master cylinder.    The bad news is that if brake fluid is leaking from that hole then it's getting past the proportioning valve seals.   The really bad news is that no spare parts are available for the proportioning valve either from Nissan or after market.     It's a bit of a PITA getting the proportioning valve out of the master cylinder body anyway but, fortunately, leaks from that area are rare in my experience. BTW, if those are copper (as such) brake lines you should get rid of them.    Bundy (steel) tube is a far better choice (and legal  in Australia - if that's where you are).
