Nissan Skyline R32 Heavy Power Steering

Recommended Posts

Speed signal is generated inside the speedo head. Dashboard outputs that speed signal to the ECU and HICAS CU. No speed signal = power steering fault. Given that you have messed with the speedo, it is possible that either the speedo head you put in is faulty and does not generate the speed signal, or you have boofed the wiring to the dash somehow.

It could be a coincidence and something else has died at the same moment. Unlikely, but.....if if is then I suggest that you get a scan tool onto the car to see which sensor has a fault in the HICAS CU. It is the fastest way to nail down dud sensors. You could try to put the car into HICAS diagnostic mode, but that won't work if the speed sensor (or any of a bunch of other sensors!) is not working.
