hey ppl, i recently sold my car and i want to buy a skyline but i am stuck between 2 choices.

1 is the 98 r33 gtst 40th anniversary for 30 geez, thats stock or i can have the same car for 35 grand with mods such as HKS suspension (thats height and damper adjustable), HKS exhaust, HKS bov, hybrid front mount, air filter, and a system. the colour is that purple one.

or

an r34 gtt for say around 35 or so, i'm pretty sure that'll be stock. so basically there's 3 choices.

1, 40th anniversary r33 with mods for $35,000

2, 40th anniversary r33 stock for $30,000

3, R34 GTT stock for say around $35,000.

if u guys could gimme ur opinions and say the value of what u think i should be paying and what u'd do and so forth, it would be great.

the 40th anniversary is a 98 model though and the purple colour, it is hot man. u get the 40th anniversary badges, different style headlights, interior is a bit different, like the seats and that. the thing is i love it man but i still have that 30 grand fear over me. like is it worth it? thats the thing, i dont know how much they go for.

I guess 98 model and perhaps being 40th anniversary with those special extra features might be worth a bit more..... i guess $30,000 kinda sounds ok i guess?????

Any pics.....

I'd say the $30g would be because of the rarity of this and also how new it is......

how many k's...?

You wouldn't catch me buying an r33 gts-t for $30k or more unless it has 300+ rwkw. So the 40th is blue with some extra badges, that doesnt make it worth an extra $10k imho but each to their own.

The other thing is you could buy my car for $30k and i'll give you $7k change :D:)

Go the R34 GT-t, these cars are bloody awesome, and from the factory they are ment to boast 206kw (I've heared this is wrong though), and you dont see many R34's around, but you doo see alot of R33's so i guess if you want to be different and stand out abit in the Skyline crowd buy the R34 GT-t. I say R34. :D Goodluck with your decision.

hey Morgs, his car is alright now, been through hell and back though coz we almost snapped the conrod by putting bigger injectors without upgrading the ecu, the car just sh*t itself, flooded hard. but now its alright, he's got the t28 ball bearing on it with a power fc on the way from japan. we still gotta meet up one day man, would be good to have a chat.

ok i've decided for the R34, now the question is how much is the price range i am looking at??? oh thanks for ur opinions guys, keep em coming.

Apart from the badges on the sides and rear i cant see any difference between a 40th anniversary and a normal gts25t.

1997 40th anniversary

1997 40th anniversary

You might be able to find one $8,000 - $9,000 cheaper if you import it.

And the purple you mentioned is the same as the R33 GTR Midnight Purple.

haha i wouldn't pay more than 15k for an R33!

buying an R34 is not just buying a newer car, you are also paying for a much better shape and interior design. if looks are anything then the R33 shouldn't even be considered against the R34 in my opinion...

also, can you get teh R34GT-T in bayside blue or was that limited to the GTRs? that would look sweet.........

best of luck with the buy!

    • When you crank your car, and hit it with a timing light, can you see a steady crank timing?
    • Oh, forgot to add, A few months ago I was getting mixture codes and the car was using crap loads of fuel. You could smell the unburned fuel in the exhaust, it was crazy strong. Economy was over 17.5 l/100 and usually around 19. I smoked the engine and found a leaky CCV hose which I replaced and then I replaced my two pre cat O2 sensors, I also replaced the MAF. This fixed my mixture codes and improved my exonomy but I'm still 14 - 15 l/100 when pottering about town so something is still amiss. Throttle response is much better and it has more pep but I'd like to know why it's still so thirsty (and I'm hoping that whatever it is gives me a bit more poke).

    • Hello all, currently finishing up a rb25 swap into my s14. Having issues with starting, car has spark (confirmed by pulling a plug and watching it spark), has fuel(confirmed by checking pulse/voltage at injectors all spark plugs are soaked in fuel). Car cranks over and pops into the exhaust with a heavy fuel smell but no attempt to start or run, I have torn the timing cover off and triple confirmed timing, turned the CAS in multiple spots both directions, attempted to start with coolant temp and maf unplugged, checked my fuel lines and made sure they weren’t backwards, checked voltage at cas/injectors/coilpacks, made sure all the grounds in the harness are connected and added a few grounding straps (1 from chassis to block, 1 from chassis to head, and 1 from chassis to igniter chip) I am getting stumped here. As a last ditch effort I made a full grounding harness tonight that’s going to run from the battery and add an extra ground from the battery onto the coil pack harness/igniter chip/ intake manifold/ Wiring specialties harness ground/ and alternator. I’m hoping maybe the grounding harness will fix it here but posting here to see if anyone has any other ideas on what else I can check. My fuel pressure is unknown right gauge will be here tomorrow.  IMG_3206.mov
