Hey guys,

So i have a 96 33, and the previous owner put a lot of work into the car, but, No HORN! Horn delete anyone??

Im trying to get the horn back up an going and am running in circles.

My fuse box has been hacked away and there are a few custom relays in there, but i do still see a smaller black fuse/relay, which i'm assuming is my horn.

On the radiator suppose, there is an exposed green wire, which i'm assuming is the horn power.

I tested that wire as well as the black fuse for power when the horn is pressed on the wheel, but there is no change in voltage

any help is appreciated.

thanks!

So doing some research and troubleshooting, The relay under the bonnet will click if its engaging. THe orange wire is a ground that runs from the horn, and triggers the relay to close when pressed.

My horn is not triggering it. I grounded it to the chassis and it clicked. So my problem is up stream from the relay.
Ive been reading some thread across the internet, and the words "HICAS Ribbon behind the steering wheel" have come up. my Airbad light is also on.
Any advice?

If the relay is working then there is a disconnection in the wire post relay. Either trace the wire and find the break or run a new wire.

Have you checked voltage out of the relay? Is voltage going into the switched side of the relay?

As far as i can see you've done the hardest part l, the rest should be easy. Given that the horn should always be available, worst case if the relay is working you can run direct power feed to one side of the switched side of the relay, run a new wire from the relay to the horn and run another wire from the horn to chassis ground

Im going to pull the steering column today and see what i can find. I dont have the keys to take off the wheel. Maybe i can find something up there.

I read on another site that possibly there is a break in the HICAS ribbon. Apparently it runs from the steering wheel, and can possibly be related to the Airbag light being on.

Ok I gotcha.

Here is where i am at;

1. The HICAS hub must have a break somewhere.

2. No airbag in the wheel (96 and has an airbag wheel)

3. yellow horn wire is maybe swapped? when plugged in, it does not line up with the yellow on the female side of the bus. Maybe it's my secret Nawse button? I dunno.

I'm gonna get with the previous owner and the guy that wired the car and figure it out. In the meantime, i'm just going to run another wire with a momentary button
