Hello all, I'm Andy. Let me start off by thanking you for the great resource you've all collectively been for me already - I've found this forum a great source of information.

I've been a fan of Skyline GT-Rs (sorry GTS people :P!) for many years now. It's hard to pick an exact moment when it began for me, but I think maybe watching an old pre second Top Gear Clarkson video my dad owned where an R34 was faster around a track than a whole bunch of contemporary supercars might have been it. I vaguely remember the cars from the first two Gran Turismo games, and their place in my heart grew more with age as I learnt about them winning Group A here so much they changed the rules to get rid of the car. The R35 continued to build the legend in my eyes, I was so excited when it came out. I swore to myself I would own one one day.

Now that time is (hopefully!) just about here. I've just about got everything in place to be able to buy an R33 GT-R. After reading more about them and thinking about it, I've arrived at the conclusion that really an R33 would be something I'd be happy with pretty much forever. It's the GT-R as I fell for it, and I really like the dynamics the RB26 powered cars by all accounts have - the whole power oversteer as an efficient way around a corner sounds like great fun.

My current car is a heavily modified '97 Magna sports - C6 Corvette DBA brakes, custom tuned piggyback Haltech, custom exhaust and Koni yellows amongst others (incidentally I'll be selling it soon to fund the GT-R if anyone wants a bonkers Magna and all around great driver's car). I live in Canberra and work as a scientist.

Looking forward to getting to know you guys and sharing the journey with you/picking your brains for knowledge!

C6 brakes and a Haltech? Would love some pics of this bonkers Magna!

:stupid:

Need pics!

Welcome to SAU and welcome to the world of GTR ownership. Hopefully you'll start a build thread for your new car.

:welcome:

I tried uploading images to this reply but it said "You are not allowed to use that image extension on this community."

    • Pads for R32 GTS-t, R32 GT-R non V-Spec (Sumitomo), R33 GTS-t and R34 GT-t are all interchangeable. R34 GT uses a 2x piston caliper, hence it didn't fit.
    • Checked with amayama and nope, the full S2 manual set is not available anymore. Unsurprising, but still disappointing as the ? on availability gave a glimmer of hope.
    • I've heard the Tomei USA head gaskets are decent if you want to o-ring the heads but otherwise not recommended.
    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
