Hi my name is Tyler, i have found myself coming to SAU quite often recently and thought i should sign up. i have always loved skylines and basically anything Nissan. i have recently bought myself a 1998 R33 skyline GTS and made it my project. i am currently only a Learner driver and am a few months off of my p plates. We all know what that means!!! its N/A, but i love it anyway.

I don't know if I will turbo the one I own. When I'm able to I will probably sell the r33 and try and get a turbocharged r34, But that's a couple years away. As for future mods on the current one, due to me only being a learner driver, soon too be p plater, any performance enhancing mods are a no no. And visually the car already has vented widebody front guards.  17inch Sparco racing ns-ll pythons. And some type of aftermarket skirts and front bumper. But the front bumper has been damaged and really brings down the look of the car. So I'm looking at putting a nismo 400r front bumper on it. And thanks for the welcome Dan!

  • 3 years later...

Not sure if I'm allowed to bring this post back up as I've already introduced myself, but I just realised that I never had any photos of the car in my first post so I just wanted to do a little before and after to show what's happened to my 33 since the first post up until now 4 years later.13835786_544526992399150_110762707_o.thumb.jpg.bea40cd3f06b1da91d456496ee83a787.jpgIMAG0207.thumb.jpg.a60cb5eb828ec22b753882323f683eaf.jpg2038344988_IMG20191213204038edited.thumb.jpg.5c6587dc201dfdd9cd95abaedb50b1dc.jpgIMG20191213203429.thumb.jpg.ae35b6bd57add76686245beb21026f9c.jpg

Thanks man! Yeah i absolutely love the thing to bits and don't think ill get rid of it once i can go turbo since ive already done so much work to it. Im actually going to build the 25DE in it, ive had alot of inspiration from some old jap tuning house builds from back in the day and even some new ones like GTR Proshop Garage Active's sequential RB30DE R32 GTR that they built. Won't be pulling massive numbers but it'll be cool nonetheless.

Nice one! Sounds like you have a plan for it. Do what you want to do and don't let anybody give you shit for it.

BTW this is one of my fave engines ever, an RB26DE with trumpets. Just so awesome but broke the brain's of all the RB26 purists.

Can't agree more, trumpets on RB's is somthing that needs to be done more often, they look and sound amazing. Its what i plan to do on mine and i can't wait for it all to come togeather. Also love those N/A RB 240z's they are a work of art that one especially.

    • Yeh I think i'll message an old contact i had for ages that manages his own tyre shop now.. n tell him what i want n work with him before ordering..  Got this 17x9 +30 Driftteks on 245/45/17 PSR Drag Radials on the rear.. They fit well - for your reference in future - Rear guards  have been lipped in & minimal to non flaring of the rear Gaurds.
    • If only it were that easy! I also needed to remove seats, shocks, brake calipers, send my car through a fence, and use measuring and ended up guessing because I didn't remove seats, shocks and brake calipers. It can be hard sometimes Can be a little more complex than 'just measure' if you want to truly measure the entire wheel through all of it's suspension travel. But if you aren't going for every last mm then yeah, you can check the space you currently have and guesstimate.
    • If you own a car, and it has wheels on it, and you know the offset of those wheels, and you have a measuring device, you have everything you need to work out if other wheels will fit.
    • Will this fit? but they are staggered set - RAYS 57DR SEMI GLOSS BLACK 18x8.5 +37 | 18x9.5 +38 5-114.3 STAGGERED SET   or If no go could just get a set 4's wheels of 18x8.5 +37 5-114.3 - would i run 8.5's 235s up front n 245's at the back if I do?   Thanks.
    • Put a clamp on your return line. I have a feeling it's sucking air, and introducing bubbles to your fuel. With a lot of fuel, less problematic. I'd honestly be redoing all the lines in the tank and clamps on everything.   Also, you've given two different answers to the same question: Asked if being followed by the police you could get down to use the whole tank, you said yes you could, so long as you keep off boost. However, you then followed this up that free revving, it would also cause the issues. I'm doubting free revving is enough to make any noticeable boost on what is likely a decent sized turbo.   So now I have to ask, can you actually drive it lightly and use all the fuel, or does it break up even free revving? Also, have you put a fuel pressure gauge on it? Can you hear the pump change noise at all when you're having this issue?
