260DET
Dropped Tie Rod Ends? Impulse bought a set but am concerned about reliability, saw a new aftermarket one break at Lakeside, the result was not nice. Really they should be made from cromo or other high spec steel but there is never any info on that so what's good and available? How about these G Tech ones https://www.gktech.com/high-misalignment-64-degrees-tie-rod-ends-12mm-14mm.html Edited March 31, 2017 by 260DET Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/469839-dropped-tie-rod-ends/ Share on other sites
hardsteppa
the quality of them seems high. I'd always prefer steel there than aluminium but I imagine gk tech would have done enough testing to ensure strong enough. 260DET
The GK Tech ones have a tensile strength quoted and GK seem to do their R&D so they will be the go, hopefully. No Crust Racing
I have those fitted but haven't driven on them yet. Quality in hand seems good, bearings seem strong and the boots are a nice touch. Take particular note of this, I had to cut mine down so much that I needed a die to extend the thread up the tie rod end on standard S13 inner tie rods.NOTE: When used with stock knuckles the tie rod thread may need to be cut down we recommend using our adjustable inner tie rods (14mm) which offer more than enough thread either way as seen in the following link. 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/469839-dropped-tie-rod-ends/#findComment-7822395 Share on other sites
260DET
What will be interesting is that the S14 rack is being fitted to a Z31 300ZX, the S14 is a touch wider there. hardsteppa
I ended up with about 15mm thread engagement but yes had to cut down tie rods to fit them. I do have an as-new set for sale, will mention...
