Aestysu
RB25DET S1 S2 engine difference Just got a new engine to drop into my 33. Came with a s2 engine and engine im putting in is a s1. Wondering if theres any difference between the two beside the coils which i can just swap over. Injectors, intake, accessories, etc all good to just plug straight into my s2 loom? Or should i just swap over the intake manifold side with my s2, just want to save some time. Azztrix
Besides the coils there is a difference between CAS I believe and you can use a s2 loom on a s1 but can't use a s1 loom on a s2 other then that there the same just a s2 is newer Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/470131-rb25det-s1-s2-engine-difference/#findComment-7825075 Share on other sites
Aestysu
alright sweet, changed the coils around, its already got a cas in the new engine so i assume the plugs are the same if they are different? im pulling the engine with the gearbox on it, is there a way to stop the oil coming out the back of it? i know with my mates subaru we just used a lid off a spray can to block it off so no oil comes out the end. Anything similar i can do or do i need to drop all the oil (i changed it recently so would rather keep it) 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/470131-rb25det-s1-s2-engine-difference/#findComment-7825136 Share on other sites
iruvyouskyrine
Leave the tailshaft in, or find an old tailshaft and cut the yoke off like i did Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/470131-rb25det-s1-s2-engine-difference/#findComment-7825137 Share on other sites
Aestysu
all done, just had to swap out throttle bodys and the bracket for the throttle cable pretty much, they had slight differences, tps being the main thing. CAS was the same half moon. Cars running good, water temps wont go higher than 70degrees though, guessing thermostat only thing that would cause it?
