Hi guys,

After a recent trip to Adelaide, I was on my way out on the M1 highway when i got pulled over for doing 126km/h in a 110 zone by 2 cops hiding behind trees on motorbikes and fined $240.

Anyway, I kinda think the $240 fine is a bit too much just for going 16 over the limit, i think in Victoria its about $180, so i was wondering if you guys know if this amount is correct or point me in the direction of a SA website that has the fines listed for speeding.

BTW - love the adelaide roads, there so much better than fu(ken potholed sh1tty bumpy vic roads! Best bit of road is the M1 up to Murray Bridge, i reckon its the best bit of road i've been on in australia :headspin:

Where the hell were you driving??? Doing circles around parliament house, or over in the Eastern suburbs ? :)...lol Thats like the newest bit of highway here .

Explore a bit more next time, im sure you would retract the above statement.

As for the fines, it sounds about right for SA. Ring someone like the police dept. They should be able to tell you if its correct or not...i cant be bothered to google it atm  sorry

over 30 is loss of licence, i just got done doing 67 in 40 zone ****en pig chased me for a kilometer casue i didnt stop on his hand signal, he can go **** himself, what do the cops think were all prostitutes to come to them as soon as they wabe their hand.

lol, i was even up at Port Pirie so don't worry you SA dude have alot better roads than VIC, take my word for it. Or just cruise down to melb some time...

yep, thats the right amount - got done for similar speed a while back.Just be glad you didnt get defected

Haha, don't worry Steve, I was driving a VX S commo with just a exhaust, he did have a look at it though...

Anyway if thats the correct amount, well theres nothing left to do but pay it :( :bs!:

2km/h less and the fine drops into the mid hundreds, speaking from recent experience

thats what i thought, as in vic the fine is much less if its under 15km/h

Thanks for your help guys :)

0-15 KM over is ~$150.00 and two points.

16-29 KM is ~$250.00 and three points.

30-44 KM is a fairly big fine and four or five points.

45 KM or more is a **** off fine and six points.

As far as I know, there is no automatic loss of licence in South Australia for speeding. But it's easy to do when you lose six points for 45 KM over the limit and then get done for dangerous driving too.

On the topic of speeding, I've gone through three separate cameras in the past two months at between 20KM-40KM over the limit and haven't heard anything. Have I been ridiculously lucky or can it take this long for fines to arrive?

ey man.... u're bloody "lucky" to be caught speeding on SA side. if you haven't crossed the border when u got pinged you would have lost your license for doing more than 15km/h above the posted limit. here in VIC dictator state we start getting fines as low as 2km/h above the limit.

Apparently speed camera fines can take up to 3 months to arrive, depending on how busy they are. Chop's fine (from the Mt Barker dyno day) only took about 3 weeks to reach him though from memory.

I agree Steve. I've lived in and/or had long visits to all states & territories of Australia at one time or another, and without doubt SA/Adelaide has "THE" poorest quality city and suburban streets/roads in the country. Melbourne might have "some" bad ones but nothing compared to here in Adelaide!

Traffic light speed camera fine (revenue payment) - 3wks till it arrived in my letterbox.

    • This looks great! Awesome to have the 5 speed with an LSD in this. The Recaro's look like SR2's or SR3's. It's a shame they've been retrimmed as they would have looked sweet in their original colours. I think I'd want my agent to be a little more up front and informative too. I've never imported but I reckon it would make me a little nervous, so the more info the better.
    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
