1: what i posted was a suggestion not technical advise

2:I were questioning a post by ADZO about the wastegate

here is his thought

disconnect the waistgate actuator then wire the gate open or pull hose off boost guage

here is my question

wouldnt disconnecting the wastegate actuator confuse the computer into beleiving it is runin lotsa boost or no boost?

if you put some thought into my post it says!

turbod cars are meant to utilise the extra air imput and extraction from the turbo i have turned mine down for a day to see what happened to about 2psi and it spikes to 7psi anyway.

3: it is not me wanting to buy 1

i already have 1

consentrate or that cholesterol will catch upto you really fast

4 just because you older it doesnt mean you know more it just means you have made more mistakes to learn from.

Why be a bully PTR33 just trying to help

I am a Qualified Aircraft Engineer, I am a Qualified (Microsoft Certified) Computer Technician, I have worked in Robotics Research and Development, I have been working in Hi-Tech industries longer than you have been alive, I have a tested 140+ I.Q.

I think I maybe DO know more than you.

I was not intending to bully anybody but I hate to see ignorant (look it up in the dictionary if you don't understand the true meaning, it has nothing to do with intelligence) people spouting "knowledge" that is just plain wrong or even harmful.

If I trod on your toes so be it. If that's the wosrt thing that happens to you this week then you are doing ok.

hmmm your 41.. he's 18

aircraft engineer and a qualified comp technician. but been workin in robotics for longer than 23 years (for thos that dont hav such a hi iq like our genious friend here, 41 - 18 equals 23)

but if im not wrong (i dont care anyway coz im just a measley chippy's apprentice) but you'd have to be about 18 to even start uni, and im guessin an aircraft engineer course would be atleast 4 years, which would make u 22 thats unless you got this certification over the internet with your microsoft certified computer technician degree/diploma/certificate even, which im guessin u didnt of course because u got an iq of 140.

now you are also a microsoft certified technician. i dunno much about the courses but i know these days computer technicians take a 4 year course at uni to complete? we'll make an exception for u and say it was 3 years.

that means you've been doing robotics as well for at least 19 years.. hmm..

19 (robotics) +

3 (comp course) +

4 (aircraft bs)

18 (age b4 uni)

hmmm

thjought u were 41 not 44?

lieng bout your age?

but hey.. im no genious like yourself.. flame me if im wrong :)

hehehe.. im jus bored and thought that didnt add up

hehe hate ignorant ppl not to mention any usernames :)

just lighten up.. ppl are trying to help out... yeah u might be able to help out a bit more.. but everyone is jus trying to give him their 2c worth

and if he's stupid enough to take what ppl write in posts here to be 100% accurate well then yeah.. tell him to literally take off the turbo and there u go dad.. i got a non turbo car.. ;)

Pretty Smart

Considdddering that Microsoft does not openly certify technicians

you probably did a tafe course for cert IV did in 7 weeks

Worked in a computershop since i finished my year ten certificate and left because there was nothing more the school could teach me in the feild of it as i knew more than them :D

Now heres what i have at 18

Cert 2

Cert 3

Cert 4

Diploma in Information Technology

Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer

Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator

Network +

Microsoft Certified DBase Consultant

Bachelor of IT

CompTia

I am even Qualified to teach

And now Studying Cisco

I believe i have worked harder in the last 3 years of my life than you have in the last 40 or so years of yours so

I also have 140+ IQ

I mean that you are Ingnorant in believing that maybe an 18 year old is smarter than you

I am an over achiever and finished my coarses at a private college on the Gold Coast

3 years ahead of time

you only have one advantage over me and that is your age

even though i have all of these certifications it doesnt mean shit because of the fact that i am 18

I am currently the store technician of a computer shop

Which is an injustice to me as i could be earning 100k + per year

You deal with fact that you waste peoples time and i will deal with the fact that my car would still be faster than yours

I can pee higher than both of you.

Not to mention my dad can beat up both your dads.

And I've got a ceritificate III in something-a-rather (came with the apprenticeship) so if push comes to shove, I'll whip it out and start flapping it around. In fact, I might even work out what its actually for. ROAR!

The quality of your english and grammar suggests that you would be lucky to get $6/hour working the grille at McDonalds.

Yea nice reply, people need to get of their high horse and realise that not everybody is going to be right 100% of the time, but at least they are trying to help. So what if you get some info wrong from time to time, the point of a forum is to get varied opions is'nt it?

Yep, I'll bet PTR33 is extremely "Ingnorant", especially when the word is used out of context.

My bottoms itchy.

Where'd this thread go again?

Oh yeah. No you cant adjust your boost lower without physically fux0ring the wastegate open. And even then it will make boost, but bugger all and only at super rpm. If you want a GTST without the turbo, how about a GTS? My god, thats just crazy enough to work.

well said

Its hardly the point though.

A bit useless asking for help, and getting 800 replies which are all 100% incorrect.

And not only incorrect, but so far off the mark that repeating any of it to a mechanic / whoever when you are trying to explain your problem would result in lots of ROFLCOPTERS and LOLLERSKATES in your direction.

Theres a difference between trying to help, and providing bullshit.

    • I know why it happened and I’m embarrassed to say but I was testing the polarity of one of the led bulb to see which side was positive with a 12v battery and that’s when it decided to fry hoping I didn’t damage anything else
    • I came here to note that is a zener diode too base on the info there. Based on that, I'd also be suspicious that replacing it, and it's likely to do the same. A lot of use cases will see it used as either voltage protection, or to create a cheap but relatively stable fixed voltage supply. That would mean it has seen more voltage than it should, and has gone into voltage melt down. If there is something else in the circuit dumping out higher than it should voltages, that needs to be found too. It's quite likely they're trying to use the Zener to limit the voltage that is hitting through to the transistor beside it, so what ever goes to the zener is likely a signal, and they're using the transistor in that circuit to amplify it. Especially as it seems they've also got a capacitor across the zener. Looks like there is meant to be something "noisy" to that zener, and what ever it was, had a melt down. Looking at that picture, it also looks like there's some solder joints that really need redoing, and it might be worth having the whole board properly inspected.  Unfortunately, without being able to stick a multimeter on it, and start tracing it all out, I'm pretty much at a loss now to help. I don't even believe I have a climate control board from an R33 around here to pull apart and see if any of the circuit appears similar to give some ideas.
    • Nah - but you won't find anything on dismantling the seats in any such thing anyway.
    • Could be. Could also be that they sit around broken more. To be fair, you almost never see one driving around. I see more R chassis GTRs than the Renault ones.
    • Yeah. Nah. This is why I said My bold for my double emphasis. We're not talking about cars tuned to the edge of det here. We're talking about normal cars. Flame propagation speed and the amount of energy required to ignite the fuel are not significant factors when running at 1500-4000 rpm, and medium to light loads, like nearly every car on the road (except twin cab utes which are driven at 6k and 100% load all the time). There is no shortage of ignition energy available in any petrol engine. If there was, we'd all be in deep shit. The calorific value, on a volume basis, is significantly different, between 98 and 91, and that turns up immediately in consumption numbers. You can see the signal easily if you control for the other variables well enough, and/or collect enough stats. As to not seeing any benefit - we had a couple of EF and EL Falcons in the company fleet back in the late 90s and early 2000s. The EEC IV ECU in those things was particularly good at adding in timing as soon as knock headroom improved, which typically came from putting in some 95 or 98. The responsiveness and power improved noticeably, and the fuel consumption dropped considerably, just from going to 95. Less delta from there to 98 - almost not noticeable, compared to the big differences seen between 91 and 95. Way back in the day, when supermarkets first started selling fuel from their own stations, I did thousands of km in FNQ in a small Toyota. I can't remember if it was a Starlet or an early Yaris. Anyway - the supermarket servos were bringing in cheap fuel from Indonesia, and the other servos were still using locally refined gear. The fuel consumption was typically at least 5%, often as much as 8% worse on the Indo shit, presumably because they had a lot more oxygenated component in the brew, and were probably barely meeting the octane spec. Around the same time or maybe a bit later (like 25 years ago), I could tell the difference between Shell 98 and BP 98, and typically preferred to only use Shell then because the Skyline ran so much better on it. Years later I found the realtionship between them had swapped, as a consequence of yet more refinery closures. So I've only used BP 98 since. Although, I must say that I could not fault the odd tank of United 98 that I've run. It's probably the same stuff. It is also very important to remember that these findings are often dependent on region. With most of the refineries in Oz now dead, there's less variability in local stuff, and he majority of our fuels are not even refined here any more anyway. It probably depends more on which SE Asian refinery is currently cheapest to operate.
