Hello everyone!! I finally got myself a skyline which has been a dream car of mine for most of my life. I just got a 1992 Skyline R32 GTS-T Type M. It was kind of a show car and had a lot of things done to it but I don’t think a lot was done correctly. So me being the 25+ year technician, I am going through everything in this car to get it running and driving amazing. I don’t ask a lot of questions because I research the heck out of everything and eventually find an answer. However, if I absolutely cannot find an answer I will call upon all of you experts to assist me please. Let me know if you have any questions or whatever.

Thanks Matty! Yeah I like the purple engine bay but it doesn’t go with the red color the car currently is, I will agree with you on that. She will need a new paint job eventually because there are a lot of blemishes, body kit cracks, and other things I see as a former auto body technician that isn’t noticeable in the picture. My girlfriend really loves that purple metallic so I was considering repainting the whole car that color then the engine bay will match the car. Possibly adding some carbon fiber accents, hood, trunk, and new taller spoiler.

Welcome to SAU. I like your car, it's cool you got your dream car. I remember the feeling. I go out and stare at my car. You may find you lose hours in your garage doing the same.

I really like your mirrors though. I'd kill for a set of Ganadors. Keep us up to date with your adventure. I like seeing what owners do with their cars. :)

Hi Steve85,

Thanks! Yeah I do get lost in time in the garage working on it and staring at it ha ha! As for the mirrors, I think they look great but they aren’t very functional because I can’t see much in them. I mirror part itself is really small.

Nice R32, it looks great, anymore pics?

:welcome:

Hi PranK,

I have some pics of her past life but no more that I have taken yet. I’m currently in the process of making her more functional and drivable. It has really over stretched tires on it right now and you can see in my picture that I posted I already raised up the ride height because it was extremely slammed and tucked. The tires are 225/40/18 on 10.5 inch wide wheels. I’m going to put 275/40/18’s on it soon. Anyway, here’s a couple pics of her past life.

I love the wheels, what's the profile on them?

I had to look them up and I found them. All it gives me is the wheel bolt pattern, and the width of the rim depending on how big the lip is. I believe I have the 10 inch wide wheels, I haven't measured yet. I will when my new tires get here though. I have attached a screenshot of them, they are on vrwheels.com and that is as much as I know right now. Well I also know that they are not cheap wheels ha ha!

    • I don't know it is due to that. It could just be due to load on track being more than a dyno. But it would be nice to rule it out. We're talking a fraction of a second of pulling ~1 degree of timing. So it's not a lot, but I'd rather it be 0... Thicker oil isn't really a "bandaid" if it's oil that is going to run at 125C, is it? It will be thicker at 100 and thus at 125, where the 40 weight may not be as thick as one may like for that use. I already have a big pump that has been ported. They (They in this instance being the guy that built my heads) port them so they flow more at lower RPM but have a bypass spring that I believe is ~70psi. I have seen 70psi of oil pressure up top in the past, before I knew I had this leak. I have a 25 row oil cooler that takes up all the space in the driver side guard. It is interesting that GM themselves recommend 0-30 oil for their Vette applications. Unless you take it to the track where the official word is to put 20-50w oil in there, then take that back out after your track day is done and return to 0-30.
    • Nice, looks great. Nice work getting the factory parts also. Never know when you'll need them.
    • Thanks @jtha7 I will have a look around tomorrow but it is a prick of a spot. These are some photos i tried taking
    • I take it that the knock retard is from bearings tapping a little tune? Thicker oil is a fragile bandaid. You need a much bigger oil cooler and probably the bigger pump being discussed.
    • Hi @Chupapy i had several leaks from coolant pipes being corroded, i also had one leak on back of the head onto transmission. For me that leak was from the turbo water line. Follow the line to the back of the head The hose and metal pipe had perished these are the best pics I took of it at the time
