Hey all, long time lurker of these forums, but having finally pulled the trigger on buying a skyline, thought I should join and get more involved.

Bought a 1999 GT-R V-spec at auction in japan, through an agent. Car is still in japan, just waiting to get it shipped to Perth.

Needs some compliancing, most notably a new steering wheel. Also needs a bit of work, a bit of surface rust on the bottom, loose front left fender, but overall decent enough condition to drive for a while before I start refreshing a few things.

Looking forward to picking the brains trust here!

Nice! Welcome, great to see new members with new cars still posting here.  Looks like nice stock car that you won't be scared of putting kms on!  Who did you go through in WA, prestige?  Did you have a good experience bringing it in?  Leather seats look like a nicely done job too.

Any goals for the car short/long term?

Car was purchased through J-spec. Did a bit of searching around, but they gave (at least what seemed to me) the most thorough feedback to my questioning. Experience with them has been good so far, car is still in Japan so I'll let you know how the rest goes.

Not going to get change from 10k on a gearset installed.  $30k++ for sequential.   I know you run the risk of a damaged used one and parts are hard to get but as a street car gearbox its really hard to beat. If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
