Aramsaay
Hello everyone! I'm new here and it's my first post, Hoping there are people with more knowledge than me here to help with an issue I currently have with my 96 r33 gtst. The car cuts out at idle after exactly 4 minutes and 20 seconds every time. Hot or cold.. but restarts every time no issue. I have tried two MAF's and running it unplugged and still cuts out the same time. I have tried direct earth for the fuel pump incase there was an issue there and again same time to cut out. Thr exhaust gas temp light is on but from what I'm aware that doesn't impact the running of the car, or so I have read. It has a decat, front mount intercooler, hks dump valve and rising sun ecu I belive. Other than that it's standard. I have also tested various sensors such as coolant temp etc and everything seems fine. Just thought before I dive deeper there might be someone that goes "oh yeah I had that before it's this.." Thanks in advance! Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/483559-96-r33-gtst-cutting-out/ Share on other sites
Duncan
How dos it stop? Does it run rough and stall, or is it more like you turn it off with they key? If the latter, check for a turbo timer or aftermarket alarm wired in under the dash. 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/483559-96-r33-gtst-cutting-out/#findComment-7963324 Share on other sites
Aramsaay
It stops just like turning the key, no spluttering or anything like that. I'll have a look after work today for anything abnormal wired under the dash although it was running fine for the previous owner apparently. But its a possibility! Duncan
And I should have asked, when it stops do you have "reds" on the dash (like before you go from IGN to Start) or is the dash blank like you turned the key off. Again, second option suggests something electrical is stopping the car, Reds suggest a stall Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/483559-96-r33-gtst-cutting-out/#findComment-7963759 Share on other sites

niZmO_Man
Is your R33 completely standard? If not, list all the mods you know of. Have you tried a different ECU for testing? Aramsaay
So actually found the cause, It WAS the exhaust temp sensor. It had been cut and poked back inside the car. So I just unplugged it and it runs without issue now! 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/483559-96-r33-gtst-cutting-out/#findComment-7964234 Share on other sites
