You could get the android tesla screens - they are getting better with the newer versions since they use newer chipsets etc. You may get issues installing them if they send you a wrong harness and in some cases some features may not work. I can understand wanting to change. I went through a year of looking to change mine but decided not to after seeing how much f**king around it needed (this was when these were first released and many people were doing testing and talking to the manufacturer to get different things programmed for different variations of the car in USDM/JDM etc.

The module currently in my V36 is from Naviplus. It's local and so far my AV guy have had good support from the guys at Naviplus.

The only other thing I can say is the build quality was not great and did not look good. A few people I know ended up wrapping up the plastic trims etc. but your car, your call.

I am NOT recommending this unit, and only know what I can see from the link below. I only post it because I have not seen anyone mention it.

Things to note:

  • Its an Australian based company
  • The unit is $519, but once you add the min expected things such as a reverse camera, its $715 (scroll down) before installation
  • It basically looks to be an android phone/tablet, and 3GB RAM is not a lot.

Another place to check about these would by an android forum such as:

Personally, I have my center screen translated, and use my phone for very good Audio (possibly not installable on this unit?), and navigation (Waze, which could be installed, but I am rooted/jailbroken and have modified it to remove the ads ect etc) and also ODBII over bluetooth. I also kind of like having a second screen (ie the phone) purposefully for Nav. And it kina looks a little bit like a tack-on with sticky tape.

I recently installed one of the 12.1 tesla screens in my 08 V36 (Nav, bose, rev & side cam) that I bought on Amazon (SHRZR i think the brand was). I msg'd the seller first with my car details and they sent me extra harnesses, but no instructions.
The 6gb of ram and 128gb internal storage is excellent, nothing lags, I've installed poweramp, waze, Newpipe and Novalauncher plus widgets etc... All very snappy. Installation was a fkin pain, but I think that was mostly my inexperience. It was hard to find support/information on it because there are SO many different chinese headunits. The firmware was barebones and missing features listed in the add. But installing Novalauncher fixed pretty much everything software wise except one thing. This unit aquires the time by gps or phone signal, which ever is available. Both antenna are weak. So on a rainy or cloudy day, it can take almost 10 minutes to display the correct time & date lol.
Here's the one i bought, I left the 4 star review.

    • It's funny, as Ive seen plenty of people use them in cheap builds on YT. And they actually go okay, even though a lot of other maxspeedingrods stuff is terrible. Those turbos seem reliable enough, the only part being, a good quality turbo that is "identical" to it, will out perform it day in and day out. In both a lower boost threshold, and the ability to flow more air at the same boost pressure. As a cheap cheap replacement, not a terrible choice. For cheap and shouldn't blow in a day, not terrible (like other eBay/Temu turbos) for low cost and still decent performance, that's where the question comes in to play from the results I've seen. I'd actually find it hilarious to buy one, and strap it to a paddock basher or some other cheap as POS originally NA car, and send it to the moon!
    • The maxpeedingrods turbo is cheap and bolts on to stock parts. I think you just need a bigger silicone coupler for the intake. Its a cheap china turbo, but it's been running on mine for almost 3 years at 16-19 psi.
    • What do they look like right after you've tried to start it with everything connected? Also post photos of what they actually look like.
