Hello I have started my rebuild of my rb25 it has been hone and bored to 87mm cp piston and manley rods.  I gapped all the rings and installed the pistons I made sure to deburr all the rings too.  I rotated the assembly and looked fine and then today I was putting on the oil pump and noticed that there is some light scratches on the cylinder walls.  I can't feel then at all I'm not sure if there wasn't enough oil in the bores or if I rotated the assembly too much but tomorrow I'm going to remove all the pistons and make sure the rings are all deburred please lmk what you guys think anything helps.

Doesn't sound like good news, if you can feel it with a finger nail it almost certainly needs a hone and possibly even a bore out.

Sucks, but not worth having an issue. I once had to get a block re-bored when I caught a ring installing it and scratched the bore. Might also be your ring end gaps were too tight

I took out the pistons today and found that all of them have some type of vertical scratch on the skirts I'm going to talk to my machinist today and see what there is to do.  Hoping for the best this is my first rebuild.

If your concerned, why not take the block back to the machinist that originally did the bore/hone? They would be able to advise if the hone needs to be redone.

I talked to my machinist he said to take a emery cloth and wipe out the scratches and it should be fine he said since the scratches don't catch my nail its fine

Good to hear. Did they have a theory why the scratches occurred? Are you certain the ring gaps are OK (check them before reinstalling pistons!)

I wiped the scratches and they went away it was only about 1-3 wipes from very fine emery cloth he said it could have been from not enough oil in the bores or too much rotating of the assembly also he said that the type of ring compressor I'm using can make the rings catch a bit.  Before I put the pistons back together I will check the gaps and double check the rings for deburring.

    • You can use your VIN to look up the factory part number somewhere like amayama, and then look to order new if necessary. https://www.amayama.com/en/genuine-catalogs/nissan Depending on price you might want to rebuild instead. @GTSBoy I had an interesting insight into US market parts when the Titan rear calipers were sticking. New calipers were dirt cheap, about 20% more than a rebuild kit....they are just considered throw away maintenance items

    • Lots of votes for driving onto a plank first; that is the quickest way I've found, 25mm is enough for my case but that will vary by car It also depends where you are going for. On the 32 I can get to the rear diff with my floor jack if I do that end first, and get it up on stands. Then I lift the front from either front tow hook as high as needed, also onto stands. Sometimes I need a small lift on the other tow hook to get it level enough If I do the front first I can't get to the rear diff because of the angle of the car Other options are getting to the front mount of the rear subframe from in front of the wheel (if only lifting one side, or just do both which is a bit of a pain compared to one lift from the diff), or also the gearbox cross member mount on the driver's side if you are  just trying to lift the driver's side. I This is the jack I use; it says 75mm clearance but of course that is only on the lower section so if you have to reach too far in like the diff you still get stuck. https://www.snapon-bluepoint.com.sg/category/Floor-Jacks/product/Floor-Jack,-2-Ton-Low-Profile

    • Ok so i will NEED to have this sensor anyway even with Nistune (or standalone ECU) https://justjap.com/products/genuine-nissan-boost-pressure-sensor-evap-control-system-fits-nissan-r34-skyline-c34-nm35-stagea-pnt30-x-trail-rb25det-vq25det-sr20vet?currency=AUD&srsltid=AfmBOoqfxX48bW9bEwH62orcNhtBfp7ekAL0C9Ca89ySFGUiBzXfXeze Is this the correct one? And this is only thing i need? No other "things" connected to the sensor or something? I do have the wiring.
