Hey guys, I have dipped my toes into the pool of skylines finally and figured I would get amongst the forums and make an introduction post!

My name is Callum, I'm from the north side of Sydney, and I am now 6 months into owning my 1992 R32 GTS-T (already having half of that time off the road in true nissan fashion).
It is originally an AH3 car but at some stage of its life it has been resprayed in and out in TH1 with (in the sellers words) extra purple, parked next to an actual TH1 car it is a fair bit lighter in colour. It has also had the original RB20 swapped out for an RB25DET NEO which I presume to be out of a Stagea going off the AWD sump that has been sealed up. I won't go super into detail with mods as I want to create a build thread post soon. Unfortunately the car seems to have had a hard life as many of these have being previously a cheap sub 10k car, and I have barely any history on it so if anyone happens to recognise the car or thinks they may have any history I would LOVE to hear it as I am a bit of a nerd when it comes to car history, the seller had it roughly since 2020 I believe and was from Parramatta area if that helps.

Look forward to being a part of the community, I have been to 2 SAUNSW events already (one being in 2022 prior to ownership, and once more a few weekends ago) so you could say I am not brand new to it but can definitely be more involved via the forums!

(side note: I am pretty new to forums and struggled to attach pictures of the car, is there an easier method than having to have the pictures on facebook and copying the link from there? would love to know for future reference cheers!)

Welcome!

Nice ride. The pics are very appreciated.

Glad you're getting amongst SAUNSW, they're great people. If I weren't so far away, I'd still be attending events in my daily.

Most of these have had a hard life due to cheap performance at one stage, but with current prices, they're starting to be collectors cars that get either taken care of, or left in a shed untouched with owners telling themselves it will happen one day(I'm the later).

Hope you find some really helpful info here, as there is a LOT.

GTR wheels? Nice.

Yeah was my first "modification" the day it arrived from Adelaide. Had the set of them sitting around from my S15 in 2020 and fate would have it that I finally end up in the right car for them 😋

welcome to SAU :) sounds like you do have a bit of sorting out to do on the car, but it looks nice

you can attach pics directly after you've made 10 posts.

Definitely an ongoing project as they all are, unfortunately it's hard to do a lot of the longer jobs on it as I daily it to work every day which means no leaving it on jackstands in the garage for eons. It also adds its own challenges of old stuff constantly breaking from getting used more than usual which I have sadly come to find multiple times in this short period of ownership haha

Its definitely nice to still see skyline dedicated events happening in the car scene but I do believe its somewhat less populated as the cars become much rarer. The first event I went to in 2022 had a turnout of what seemed like 40ish skylines whereas the recent one I attended seemed to be a quieter turnout of around 20 cars.

Unfortunately,  it feels like it's been on the decline for nearly a decade.

Especially as wallet racing became popular with them(biggest wallet can pay off a car that wins).

It seems like a different mindset kf ownership these days.

But, hopefully people like yourself keep some of the skyline scene alive.

I daily mine, have done so for 25 years. But I do not participate in the "car scene" outside of here. I don't like hanging out with the "car scene" very much. Too much yobbo, too much exposure (to yobbos, cops, etc).

Completely know where you're coming from. Its a double edged sword because I want to go to events and see cars because it would bring me a lot of excitement in high school and the P plater glory days being able to see a bunch of sick cars in one place but as the cool cars become unjustifiably expensive and all people can afford to modify and bring out is regular traffic cars it all becomes a bit less exciting.

Nice ride, hard to find these days!

I chose a bad time to buy, at the time there was no gtst's for sale in NSW and my options were qld, vic, or sa and not the greatest examples or too far out of my budget. Ended up picking this one from adelaide sight unseen and got a bit stitched up as you could expect but i dont fully regret it, its just a shame people cant be more transparent in this day and age.

    • GTSboy, thank you again. i’ve been reading all the other SAU RB25 vacuum line threads and you have the utmost patience for people asking “where do my vacuum lines go”. it’s appreciated. i did also enlist a few other RB guys local to me.  i would like to run 5 to 4. turbo pressure side to wastegate actuator. i would like to run 3 to 1. power steering air valve line to intercooler outlet. (this is how it was previously). i was told 2 is the bleed port for the boost solenoid - which i’m not running - so should be capped.   anyone see any problems with that?
    • So yes. All of them. Something like 98% of all fuel in the USA has 10% ethanol: https://afdc.energy.gov/fuels/ethanol-fuel-basics It's labelled as like, AKI, 87, 91, 93 with an E10 or E5 or E15 label on the pump. At a certain point, it's not just "E10" instead of 91. It is 91, 95, 98, and all of them have 10% Ethanol in them. You can also get E85 and E30 which is why you do see some people rolling around with E30 tunes in them.
    • Thanks for the response. This is an 04 EP3 Type R. JDM spec. Fairly certain they're just basic BC racing coils. I do plan to keep as the ride quality on stock I've been told is pretty meh given Sydney roads. If I were to go down that avenue, does NSW require them to be a certain spec (close to original) etc?
    • Should have asked what is the car?
    • I've had two super conflicting experiences with blue slips. My 30 year old E39 waltzed through with no issues but my brother in law was knocked back on 12 y/o 3 series due to wiper blades and some cracking in a control arm bush.  What kind of coil overs? Do you want to keep them after?  If it was me I'd get some dirt cheap shocks and springs from eBay or scumtree. Not ideal but will get you over the line and might even be less than $1k.
