Doing a refresh of my 33 and can see a few websites stating they sell the entire main carpet for our cars, but they all have generic photos which is fine, i understand they are custom made to order.

Just seeing if anyone has got it done or had any experience with this, as i would only want to do it if the fit and finish was as good as oem

Well, moulded carpets should fit well if the buck they use is the right shape. The finish is then just a case of stiching the trim around the edges. Shuoldn't be too hard to get it right.

Back in the day, replacement carpets were all "fitted", in that they were stitched together, with cuts and slices taken out to make them form the shapes. Many more opportunities to get it wrong, hence all the concern over good vendors and bad vendors.

I recently did this to my R33 with the full set from Car Mats Direct, they can't do the vinyl anymore that's advertised on the website due to a supplier issue so I ended up with the Black Loop Pile which looks great. I went all out with rubber sound deadening sheets from Repco and also added the sound deadening foam layer option with the carpet.

Makes a world of difference and got rid of all the weird smells in the 29 year old interior. It was a bit of work but I'd 100% recommend it, Car Mats Direct had awesome customer service and quick postage.

Replaced my seats with some sporty ones from Autotechnia while I was at it, feels like a new car.

Got any pics of the carpet fitted?

Unfortunately haven’t taken pics yet after it was finished. All the edges are hemmed nicely, just had to cut holes for the gear shifter and seat bolts and seat belt bolts in the rear.

The molds seem like they’re done with steam and a layer of glue on the underside to hold a bit of shape but still soft enough that it’s a good fit when it’s all pressed down.

Looks decent, did you need to remove the dash?

Tempting, but the effort and time I cbf.

Only needed to pull out the seats, center console and gear shifter surround, took a weekend and a fair few beers.

You get to look forward to finding all sorts of weird shit under the seats and carpet, I pulled out a Chinese dudes passport from 2003, 220 yen and a condom wrapper 😆

@Yeetus

Happy with the loop? Trying to decide loop or pile.

Yeah I like it, I haven't seen the others in person so can't compare but I'm happy with it

Some more close up pics now that I’m back to working on the car, the loop pile is nice but again haven’t compared it to the other types in person, it’s hard to tell from the pics on the website. View of the hemming on the edges too, it comes in 2 pieces - front and back, honestly very happy with it for anyone on the fence.

 Also attached my previous pics from further up as it didn’t let me post them directly before. (Nothing worse than photo bucket pics that aren’t hosted anymore years later)
