Hi SAU family, having issues with my R34GTT which is slightly modified and tuned to e85.

so scenario is, I’m driving the car to work (30km oneway) and then coming back in the arvo. Car starts and runs fine in the morning and on the way back home (in the arvo). I stop the car when i gets home and after 10-15 mins, it wont start. Battery is fine, fuel pump seems to be working. All i hear is engine clicks but wont start.
Last time, i disconnected the battery terminals and re connected them. Check fuses. Didnt start at that time but started after an hour (so I say when its cool down). Mechanic cant find the issue as its running now and nothing coming up in the diagnose.

any advice, opinion or anyone gone through similar issue.

thanks 🙏🏻

Sounds like an issue with the hot start mapping.

This. Assuming that the 2nd version (turns over) is the truth and not the first version (just clicks).

Just clicks is, of course, an indicator of a starter solenoid not liking to work when hot.

Injectors?

Note, there is no way that I would run E85 on stock injectors. They are too small.

injectors were upgraded (1000cc), stock turbo high flowed, return flow infercooler and ecu nistuned before tuned

Who tuned it? Have you spoken to them about the hot start issue yet?

Yeah, they all cant say anything for sure as everything is working fine . Said unable to find an issue untill it stops again. Could mist likely be CAS wiring or IAS valve issue but again not 100%

Basically your tuner needs to drive it for the 30 min (or whatever) to create the same conditions then check the ECU settings and sensors at that time. They may not be excited to because that takes them 30 min rather than just opening the bonnet and seeing the problem straight away....

Hot start is generally not as tricky as cold start, but there would be a table for fuel enrichment vs coolant temp as a starting point

Pretty safe to say almost everyone that has tuned their own car has experienced this issue. The difference being that we have our laptop in the car and when it happens, it's literally 10 seconds of tuning to sort it.

Would you be happy to plug in your laptop and sort this yourself? It is a very simple process and there is no risk of harming your engine (if you are worried about that).

Resizing injectors in Nistune can be done a couple of ways, and there are a couple of ways that you can make a mess of it. The tuner needs to be really aware of the effects of whichever approach he uses (either K, or TIM). They are both easy enough to "get the injector size right" to run the engine. But little details like old start enrichment and hot start are affected differently, depending on which boxes you check.
