Hey guys,

I decided to go for the R32 gts4.

I was just wondering, i have $5k to spend o n the car, for mods etc.. (won't get very far) But can someone make a short list, of some mods, that will help with handling, and also, what are some small mods i should get to improve the power od the car ?

Also, has anyone got any idea on how much a new paint job will cost ? or has anyone got any ideas of a good place to go to, to get it done ? (Im in Victoria)

Thanks

Obviously i havnt got it yet. Ive just decided to go for it over the gtst, and i only have a limited ammount of cash to spend on mods.

Im still deciding out of 2 gts4's that are on carsales.com.au. Theres a nice Black one for $17.500 which i might go for, but its Auto.

Any idea on a rough cost to get a Auto converted to Manual ?

Thanks

First time you line up with a falcodore at the lights and its like today in Melb (WET) you will know you made the right choice! :)

DO - change all fluids unless already done. Change Fuel and Oil filters.

Check in boot on drivers side for fluid level in AWD txfr case reservoir.

New plugs - Plat NGK's, New panel filter, remove front entry plastic into air box behind headlight but leave bit attached at front to rad support panel so no hot under hood air coming in. DONT put on POD! Remove mesh on AFM.

Replumb waste gate solenoid reference from near Turbo comp outlet to the inlet manifold so better response. Check under plastic boots that go ontop of plugs for arcing of springloaded contacts and file flat if corroded. Fit accurate boost gauge to check no overboosting or problems with vacuum. Do not play with boost until you have the gauge installed. Reset ECU - disconnect bat. then foot on brake, reconnect.

If an Auto dont replace ByPass valve on engine crossover pipe with a BOV -stuffs response and does not need a BOV like a manual. :)

Then...

3" Exhaust / Etc.

1. Decent Service with the most expensive shit you can afford (engine oil, oil filter, fuel filter, injector clean, check belts, coolant, power steering fluid, air filter, a/f meter clean, brake pads, brake fluid, check timing, gearbox oil, new spark plugs)

2. Advanced Driving Course

3. Skidpan day

4. Skidpan day again

5. Trackday

6. Another trackday

7. Yet another trackday

    • If it (the code) wasn't still current, it should have gone away by itself by now. No, nothing it 10/10. But it is quite likely. Everything else to do with the ignition could still be responsible (which is wires and connectors). The car is an old piece of shit now, so all the wires and connectors are also old pieces of shit.
    • Lock me in mate, although I'm not sure if I'll be heading up from Goulburn or down from Sydney, either way, return will be back to Goulburn
    • Sounds good, we will aim to be there! @The Bogan I'll give you a shout if you are heading up to campbelltown for the meet too.
    • Before I get to the test day, just to finish off the android head unit. This is a demo from car start up....the standard/host system takes a few seconds to boot (same as all v37) but Android comes up quickly. In this vid I'm using the delivered launcher but have set the default to Agami since which is easier to navigate when if use primarily 5 apps. You can see the host system still takes over when required eg putting it in reverse, and you can switch between Android and not by holding the back button 3 sec. It is pretty responsive (fast) but you can see I had to press harder than expected a couple of times.  I still have the phone connected to the stock system, and that also seamlessly takes over Android music playing. v37-android-demo.mp4 The bigger reason that I put this in though is so that I can use Ecutek directly on the head unit. That gives me a dash with logging (up to 20MB only), high and low value warnings on any parameter etc etc. I've run a USB cable from the Ecutek OBD dongle to a USB input on the unit, easy. v37-ecutek-demo.mp4   The unit did freeze on the launcher the other day, I think Agami was trying to verify the license when it didn't have a data connection...will monitor and report back if there are any other problems but so far I'm very happy with the upgrade.
    • Nah that is just crappy GPS mapping, I did have a small excursion (cold tyres, damp track, surprise!), will post up that when I get a chance.
