Just called the workshop that is doing compliance for my '95 R33 GTS25-t. They said they finished with the car and mailed the paper work few days ago to Canberra, but they don’t know how long it will take for the plate to arrive. So maybe someone got their plate recently or knows aprox. how long it takes for one for arrive, please let me know as i would like to have a rough idea when to expect it.

Thanx

My car also became ready - last week, the paperwork was submitted over the web, the current time for it to get cleared is 5 working days, however it fluctuates a fair bit (up to 14 etc). Anyhow yesterday i got a phonecall from the compliance workshop, the government asked about the mirrors or some such crap, took about 2 seconds to alter the form to answer their question but now its another 5 day wait. (Why they dont actually pick up the phone when they have questions is beyond me)

So i guess the answer to your question is about 6 days. (Once the car gets the all clear it takes another day for the compliance plate to arrive).

Hope that helps and you dont get stuffed around like i did

Well it took my mates workshop (they worked non stop on the car) 2 days to do.

4 Side Intrusion bars

5 Seat belts

Mirror from convex to flat

Child restraint points

Unleaded fuel filler opening restrictor

and fit a headunit and 4 new speakers

and then the engineer checked it all over for me and fitted me with a L01 mod plate for registration (QLD).

Mine took approximately 2 weeks for my R33. Its systematic, but I know how you feel, i was in pain just looking at my car sitting in the workshop, and couldnt even take it out. While mine was sitting at the workshop waiting for the plate to come back, I installed my stereo and got an alarm system fitted. Could be an idea to get an alarm fitted so you can park your car when you get it...

In the end, the wait is all worth it.

Should have some news next week, hopefully.

I couldn't even look at mine. It was sitting in a garage in Brissy while I'm in Tassie. Mine was seven days then I got a call saying they'd stuffed up the paperwork and it was another five days. It's currently on a truck somewhere between Brisbane and Melbourne. Or it's supposed to be. Waiting sucks.

Hi guys, normally the work on the car is completed in a couple of days and the Vehicle Inspection Certificate (VIC) submitted to DOTARS via the Internet.

It then really depends on how many VIC's are in the system as to how long it takes. Can be between 5-10 working days. Then once DOTARS clear paperwork it gets electronically transferred to NIDDRIE who make up Compliance Plate. Once the RAWS workshop pays then they send it out. If the workshop pay an extra $35 they can have it the next day, otherwise it gets sent registered post which can take 3-5 working days.

So start to finish about 2 to 3 weeks!!

If anyone has any questions please feel free to give me a call and I'll answer them. In case you haven't guessed by now, we have a RAWS workshop in Sydney:

SSPI actually did my compliance hehe... They actually can tell you if its gone through by looking on their computer through some database. Was so happy when I heard the news came in, but then got shafted cause RTA wanted to inspect my car which is a whole other issue, other than that, its still worth the wait I reckon.

Stick in there is all I can say

Hi Pavel,

If you go to following link

http://raws.dotars.gov.au/rawswebpublic/RA...ubVehSearch.asp

and type in your VIN, will be 6U9000ECR33xxxxxx

it will show you if DOTARS have cleared the RAWS paperwork so as Compliance plate can be issued. If its there than it is a matter of 1 day for compliance plate to arrive at RAWS if they pay the extra $35 for air mail, or about 3-4 working days if it comes the no extra cost registered mail.

Mannie

Mannie,

Thanx for the info, just got a call from the workshop and good news, been approved.

Went to the DOTARS web site , did a search and found my r33 :(

Plate Approval Date: 28 September 2004

Will be expecting for a plate to come down end of this week and hopefully will have the car on the road next week.

    • Its a 2002 vr-x four VQ25DET, silver. Coil overs, lowered, polished alloys and sport exhaust. Bit of a project, was sitting in a shed for a while but runs and drives great.
    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
