I picked up my R32 GTR today from Laverton

It's been a while and I thank everyone who has given me some much needed advise over the last 3.5 months. THANK YOU.

9.00am - Vic Roads to pick up UVP

10.00am Laverton (TOLL) to pick up car....

10.30am Leaving Laverton... battery was flat and stalled it turning onto Westgate Fwy...what a drama! Caused a road block for about 1km B4 someone gave me a jump. No air filters on so idel was a bit jumpy. Minimum fuel also!

Fark it was an awsome drive. Handels like it's on rails (my first drive in any sort of GTR...weird) Played around with the boost a bit... did not take it over 5500 but even then it was kicking HARD (to me anyway)

MISSING ITEMS: Missing horn from wheele, missing Nozmo gear nob.

BONUS ITEM: Rims are super sweet, thought they were 17" from photos but they are 18" deep dish with 245/40 ZR rubber and good tread.

HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY

Will post some pics later...

my baby landed too. i catapulted my other half into the air and they landed with a hard thud on the asphalt. :headspin:

Nice.

Is this the one with thr T78? wheres the engine bay shots and shots of the whole car, not these fancy ones where you can only see 20% of one part of the car

T78 it is indeed. I will post more pics of the "whole car and engine later if I can grab my mates camera. If not tomorrow when its lighter. (my camera seriously sucks unless you have great lighting)

Other Q's: Used J-Spec :thankyou: Cost me between $20K and $25K

Got a few more shots in B4 dark - only one worth uploading.

looks good.. was this the one you posted with shots in japan and was all dirty in the engine bay? and was meant to have had a "fresh" rebuild. Looks like they've cleaned it up a little since then.

Anyhow, looks like a good buy.. enjoy!

Mate....

This thing was farkin filthy when I picked it up. I've got a week off work, so had the time and quite enjoyed giving it a 4hr clean today. Went through 1/4 can of de-greaser and about 10 rags just on the engine bay. Looks heaps better now.

    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
    • Yeah dunno why johhny posted that here with no context, just post on FB/insta bro where he put it up?  Laine had an off at T4 during Thurs prac, he's ok, car is less than perfect, they are done for the weekend, he can fill in the rest. Bando also binned it like 100m up the road.
    • I feel there must have been a FB/insta post and the weekend did not start well at all I hope everyone is all okay
