upgrading cooler is one of the first things you do in the modification stage before you get bigger turbo.
Correction: it's one of the first things RICERS do!~

Gojira: thought so

MeshMesh: those pics are after the Jaws Of Life have chopped up the car...sliding out of control into a pole at 70k in the wet would still do enough damage imo, not that i am saying they were doing 70...

I have posted enough in this thread.

It affects you because you're ignorant and selfish enough to not have any sympathy for others, regardless of whatever the circumstances were at the time

Let's be clear about something - I'm not obliged to have sympathy for anyone who suffers as a result of careless driving or their own actions.

As I said, you don't know what happened; but all you care about is how it'll affect YOU

That was the whole point of my post wasn't it?? I could care less what you or anyone thinks of me on here. If you take offence to my comments or disagree - that's your problem not mine, but dont presume you can tell me what I can and cant say.

I've posted my comments and I have nothing further to add to this thread.

This affects me because I drive an import, live nearby to the area where this accident occurred, and I dont appreciate being harassed by cops because of the CARLESS actions of other drivers.

YOU, GTTR34 as much as anyone else, are the type who give Skylines/imports/enthusiasts' cars a bad name.

If you don't have any sympathy for 2 teenaged PASSENGERS who have been killed, regardless of the circumstances, then you're probably not going to give a fcuk (as you so cleverly type) about anyone else on the road.

That is what causes accidents & ill feeling - people who don't care about other road users.

Bagging other forum members for having a different opinion to yours really helps too, doesn't it???

No-one here knows what happened to cause that "accident", but it sure as hell doesn't help anyone to merely think about how it might affect you.

I hope I don't have the misfortune to be driving on the same stretch of road as you!

I do admit...some sympathy and empathy must come out of this. However, sympathy has to stop at a certain point because a minority group of idiots have caused the law to typecast the rest of the law-abiding/track racing group. Some sympathy - Young life wasted. But it's hard to learn when your peers are all doing stupid things.

70km/h only? Righhhhhhhht :bs!: He's got so much to loose by telling the truth.

Soon we'll all have to drive camrys and magnas because things for import drivers will sooon degenerate.

ERRR, sven laptop - your comments are laughable, now you say I give skyline/imports enthusiasts/drivers a bad name? pffft. How do you figure that one genius? Go and read my posts again, in each one I am referring to the DRIVER. Dont make this about me you moron, you dont know me. I didnt bag other forum users, yet people here are judging ME for having an opinion different to theirs. It's not my problem if people misread my posts and disagree with my view. Say what you like, I'm through with this discussion.

:bs!:

Your kidding arent you?
No, I am not.

hmm rice is something that doesent add power but look good. A fmic replacement for the pissy stock cooler gains alot of power!!! Or are you saying everyone with a fmic is a ricer???
I know what rice is - putting on a FMIC, including the usual: widening / opening up of the front bar, an aftermarket front bar for more exposure, spraying big jap brand logos etc are all for show.

Even without the extra bits that usually go with a FMIC install - how much power exactly does a bigger intercooler give to a stock car [33 gtst]? Where is the evidence of this?

AFAIK all it will do with a stock turbo [which is what we are talking about] is run more efficiently [perhaps] than the stock ic...

INASNT said: "its the first thing people do for performance" and since we are talking about stock cars, how much performance does a big FMIC give?

Nearly every r33 gtst I see in places like chapel st [but certainly not limited to] have this mod - why? for looks, plain and simple. If they eventually get a bigger turbo and / or upgrade their exhaust/intake/boost/cams/etc that doesn't mean the FMIC actually gave any power - it just "helped" deliver it to the engine - either faster through less pressure drop or cooler through being more efficient.

How many other loonies are prepared to put their hand up with these guys and say that "a FMIC installed on a stock r33 gtst, running stock turbo & boost is going to give greater power"???

Now, installing a bigger FMIC along with other mods like a bigger turbo, much higher boost than stock etc, that is a different story [not what I am even talking about].

Amen.

i am 17, i have my p's and could have done an equal or better crash in my NA R31... its not the car, it is the driver... fullstop.

my best friend is one of these drivers, and i refuse to travel in his car with him... he sure takes offence to this and thinks im a *****, but i know for a fact he would have the urge to show off and could come unstuck... therefore, i stick clear of him and his car

**edit: posting in my brothers account he is 23 not me: end edit**

Evidence would be my car about 2 years ago,

Stock turbo and cooler with safc 155rwkw.

Stock turbo, fmic, safc 183rwkw.

The fact is that the stock cooler is a piece of shit and should be tossed in the bin.

If you get a fmic installed on ur car, then you would atleast get a bleeder which costs $90 to raise the boost from stock as it is so easy to install and use so you get the performance increase.

Y are we arguing?

I was enjoying GTTR34 getting a baging from everyone instead :P

No, GTTR34, you don't show any signs of unnecessary aggression, do you???

But you're right about one thing: "incidents like this certainly don't improve the image of import car drivers."

Unfortunately, neither do cases of those drivers calling each other "careless moron f*ckwits".

How about we wait and find out what REALLY happened before we start flinging blame at people who already have quite a bit to deal with at the moment?

That's my 2 cents worth.

Drive safely.

we are not arguing, well im not anyway :P

increasing boost with a bleeder is what raised the power - I was talking about STOCK!

dont twist things, i know the stock 33 cooler is restrictive etc

my stock 34 ic does a great job with my mods [full 3inch turbo back exh, pod and 10-11psi]!

Stock intercooler on my R32 (R33 no different) had about 2psi pressure drop. How do i know, with the std cooler the car ran 11psi with my exhaust/filter mods. With my front mount it ran 13psi. So with a good exhaust/filter and intercooler you wont be running stock boost, even though you havent installed a boost controller or tried to cheat the wastegate..... Instant 2psi increase (power in itself) plus a cooler denser charge meaning more power again. So i must be a loony :werd:

Hate to say it - but I know what I was like in my 87 Pintara Wagon when I was 18 - I dont really like pondering certain outcomes if I had 200kw at the rear wheels at my disposal and a confidence to skill ratio way out of balance.....

P Plate Training is not the only solution - power to weight ratio surely has to be just as important ...

Tragic none the less.

In all honesty i have no sympathy whatsoever for his actions because of the innocent lives at risk. Even if his mates were egging him on to drag that honda NA i still would've put my mates as a safety priority first and would've drived normally...don't know whether he was under pressure and said oh well it's either my mates who will die or i look like a fool for not racing the honda ( until proven).

Then my old man gave me a lecture and said to me ur car (r32 gts-t) was on the news about a crash and i''m like it's an r33 plus he was on his p's being stupid.

Can't even go to work without some1 mentioning my car, using it as a scape goat!

This is the very last time I will bother replying to people in here [i will check back for other peoples responses for a laugh but dont bother asking me any q's].

Talk about out of context. Yes, air intake and exhaust mods can give you a natural boost increase... I already know this...

So you removed either an "NQR" or "under-spec'd for a modified car" stock ic and replaced it with a brand new stock item? Then you compared the results of that with the FMIC results? OR did you just go straight from an ic trying to work outside its efficiency zone [and probably blocked from dirt/bugs/rocks/dints/etc] to a big fmic? Either way your post is virtually useless to the coversation because in addition to the useless test you did, your before and after comparisons have exhaust and filter mods - I am talking about a fkn stock car NO MODS! OR, you didnt give me anywhere near enough info on your test? Which is it?

My main points were

1. Most people put on FMIC's for looks more than anything else [a lot of these ppl also have p-plates and advertise their mobile numbers for chicks to call them up and be fully sik together].

2. I am talking about FCUKING stock cars, how many times must I use the word "stock" before people realise? fcuk me.

:chop: :P :bs!: :hellpisd: :cuss: :looney: :chairshot:flamer:

guys please drive really carefully when its wet... Its just not funny how hairy a Skyline can be in the wet...

even if you are a really skillful, experienced driver...of any age...driving a Skyline requires more concentration and maturity than driving a Toyota Corolla...and that is just a fact...

a run of the mill type of car is much more forgiving when you make a mistake... make a mistake in a Skyline and it will bend you over and reem you like there is no tomorrow...

PLEASE DRIVE CAREFULLY... nobody deserves to die for being young and stupid...

u emphasise STOCK...how do you know if their stock? i mean do you know the modifications of all the stock skylines in victoria with fmic's hanging of the front? its also a pretty damn expensive rice addition compared to a simple pink neon hanging out the front lol

what do you class as stock? stock rims? stock ride height?

i dont understand your logic dude, fmic's are one expensive modification to just have as a visual rice addition to your car lol  :innocent:

    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
    • Here's an idea, answer the questions I asked you as they are trying to work out WHY the LSD will be binding up in a straight line.
    • You haven't driven many modern cars then have you? Most of them have sfa steering feel with their stupid electric bullshit steering systems.
