Are any 34 owners out there interested in getting a daughterboard for their ECU?

Taken from http://www.sr20tuning.com/theoryandpartsrequired.html

Daughterboards are not really commercially available. Companies such as Chip Torque in Australia perform a similar process by fitting an expansion board and then storing additional tuning information that the ecu will read and use. There is nothing to stop anyone from using such a company to retune their stock ecu, but it will cost much more. Of course, you are paying for their extensive experience and expertise, which is no doubt of very high quality. Dyno tuning is also involved, with before and after dyno graphs. The process is payed for as a package, with the parts and labour included. One advantage is that the car will have is the potential to be retuned to cope with future modifications.
UPDATE (12/11/2004): seems the guys who I wanted to purchase the board from were getting too greedy only willing to sell me a 1 x board with either rom address table or the tuning data. So I have purchased a board+ribbon cable from elsewhere for about $135 EMS'd and should arrive next week sometime. Hopefully can extract the rom address table from the bin files manually.

UPDATE (17/11/2004): Ok, I have received the daughterboard from www.grid.co.jp all I need to do is get the stock maps and then install the board with the stock maps on it to make sure it works.

The instructions for the board does state the stagea, so it seems this board will work on the stagea as well as the S15.

It cost me $135AUD which included EMS delivery. Will post pics tonight.

UPDATE (8/2/2005): As per my post, have finally extracted stock maps from the ECU. Just need an address file so we can edit the BIN file correctly.

UPDATE (29/8/2005): Daughterboard is in the ECU, just need to test it out and still yet to crack the ROM with an address table.

This is ONLY for 34's with the RB25DET Neo. Auto/Manual does NOT matter.

Tuners who can do daughterboards.

Perth - Ken/Glenn @ HyperDrive (Install as well)

Sydney - Unigroup

Brisbane -

Melbourne - Dr Drift (Install as well)

Adelaide -

ed - I have quite a few customers in Melbourne who would be interested in these... do you have a source for the boards to suit the 34?? I have seen them before and can tune them, just not sure where to get the boards...

Dr Drift, yeah I have a source for this.

The problem is that the daughterboard on it's own is useless unless you have the address table, K-constant, speed limiter, rev limiter etc. as it means you would need to spend some time discoverying all this.

Which is why I am organising a group buy, so the cost of the address table info is split amongst us.

Dan, for some weird reason I was told it does not work on the N/A ecu's. But if you are willing to try.... :P

ok that's 4 people we have.

no one else?

This is what it can edit.

*Speed limit

*Rev limit

*Boost limit

*Fuel map & scale

*Ignition map & scale

*Acceleration fuel compensation map & scale

Also it will still throw up factory fault codes which the PowerFC won't do.

It is designed for the R34 and C34 running RB25DET motors :P

I think the exchange rate is currently around 78 so divide the yen by 78.

The rom data would be then further divided by however many ppl in this group buy.

I will post up a shot of the internals of the stock ECU soon.

I am not sure how much for tuning and such but places like chiptorque should be able to tune it.

That site you referred to got parts off Lucas, who runs www.bikirom.com - and supplies all his products from Perth. He has an association with Speedworks over here in WA. He has some top quality developments going on at the moment. His new multifunction boards allow flat shifting, rotational idle etc... pretty cool stuff for a standard ecu!!! Check out his website for more info.

JK

Yes but he does not have the complete rom address table.

daughterboard is useless without the full rom address table. :D

EDIT: I have been waiting for over 6 months for him to bring out the new design which doesn't seem to be happening.

    • Ha ha ha, that's fair mate! We have the crackhead dogs now. Mainly because the missus wants the crazy dogs while she still has the energy and capacity to be able to keep up with them! Ha ha our current two are both Working GSD, there brothers and sisters (from the same litters) are in Police, Corrective Services, and I believe one did end up in defence force too. They're wild and fun, yet right now, both curled up asleep on the lounge room floor while we watch some TV. Mal is very likely the next dog (unless I get my couch potato guardian dog 😛 )   What are your Kitties names? Are you planning some house work, like those high kitty shelves, built in scratching post, and some cat passages from one room to another room?
    • Maine Coone, did look at but to big and fluffy As for performance dogs, we had Mals at work, performance dogs are fun to watch, but, way to much work for this old rooster
    • Yep, it was only an option on the Q50 Hybrid.  Same in Japan as far as I know. And doesn't use a centre diff like the Suby's do, so not the same as the WRX.  But it also isn't a reactive AWD like other Nissan AWD vehicles are, eg. Murano/Xtrail/etc.
    • You should have got a Maine Coone then. Only thing is they're big. But so cool, and just like a dog. Or, just get yourself a high performance dog. That'll teach you for wanting Parkour indoors 😛
