Hey Stagea Fans

Well I am trying to put some more things together and I am looking for some help.

Ok well my first question is regarding the stagea ECU it has been established that the plug is the same as the one on the ER34 GTT however the pins dont do the same things apparently soooo can anyone who has a stagea workshop manual possibly scan a copy of the page listing the pinouts and the plug up for us to have a look at?

dont worry if it is in japanese as we can solve that pretty easily.

would be great if you can as there are a number of people after this info and I know a few people have a few ideas which could make tuning the beast a breeze.

Second thing is regarding the ecu also but is related to series one and series 2 models.

Is the ecu for the series one the same as the series2? if not what are the differences?

Third question related to the second is regarding the transmission. As I am a lazy bastard if I ever got around to changing the transmission I would probably still keep the auto as its going to be my daily driver but would love a tip tronic tranny. but if it means i need a new ecu and whatnot its not really worth the effort can anyone comfirm the ecu is the same from s1 to s2 and if you can swap the trans easily?

if anyone else has any other general questions about the beasts post them up and hopefully someone can give us the answers we need

:D

Patience oh driver of fine Nissan wagon :P

I'll have my C34 workshop manuals soon enough & then all will be revealed.

I'm also expecting a fully translated owners manual any day now & that better bloody tell me what the 'Light Reduce' switch does....

I just looked through my 258 page Stagea manual and could not find a button marked Light Reduce.

Good luck finding out!!

hey guys i think that the series one ecu is different to the series 2 ecu but the series 2 ecu is the same as the r34.

well this is what this chart says anyway

have a look and see what i mean :thankyou:

Where is this switch>???

Where is this switch>???

The "Light Reduce" switch is located between the rear window demister switch and the hand brake release lever. It does just what it says. Leave it on when you drive at night and you'll find out for yourself.

Does anyone know when this might be useful?

  • 3 weeks later...

One little snippet of info - I read somewhere that the Stagea doesn't use G-sensors in its ATTESSA-ETS & relies totally on road speed & wheel slip.

I believe that this is incorrect - my car has 2 G-sensors located in the usual centre-console position....

    • Spotted in Adelaide last week.... mine! New to me two weeks ago.. love it!
    • Congrats on the career change!  I did something similar at the start of the year too, left IT / corporate after nearly 2 decades. Soooo when's the motor coming out for the spark plug change?
    • Hi guys, long time no post as per usual! It's been a busy year so far, the biggest thing being a new job.  After 28 years in the automotive industry I decided it was time for a change.  I was losing faith in the industry and where it's heading.  Now in a completely different industry (electrical) working for a company that manufacture water pump contollers.  Not as sexy as cars but it's an interesting,  challenging industry. I now don't work Saturdays which is a bonus!  It's still 50-55 hours a week but having Saturdays ack after 28 years of working them is awesome!   No news on the GT-R but i did decide to add some more JDM goodness into my life....           1990 300 ZX.  She's not perfect but for a 35 year old car she ain't bad!  Just going to tidy it up a bit and enjoy it.  It's currently auto but will start stockpiling everything for a manual swap. It WILL distract me even further from the GT-R but im hoping not for too long! It somewhat proves a 6'8" freak can fit in a 300 ZX.  Sort of...  I drove it home from the previous owners house in Melbourne via Black Spur and Merton Gap (2 awesome bits of Victorian twisty road) and it was amazing!  Handles so well!!!   I don't think it would be worthy of a full build page but I'll post up some of the upgrades here if anyone is interested?  Cheers guys!
    • End game is to: - Remove all the slop from old worn parts - Adjust setup so that the wheels actually fit and the car is drivable (currently it is not because of the extreme rubbing on the guards).   Progress over the last couple of days, removed the rear hubs! Next steps: - Buy bushings - Replace bushings/bearings on hub - Reinstall
