Update:

Going to Cromer Exhaust Centre on Saturday to get my brackets and extra muffler fitted.

Blokes said I should get away under $250 absolute max.

Hopefully they'll have a good muffler in stock so I won't have to come back the week after (they said it's a possibility).

Damnit I'm broke this week and my credit card hurts : heh

It's ok Duncan I know who it is.

I won't be naming them as I don't know for fact they installed my daughterboard. (Difference between fact and defamation.)

Anyways it's all OFF TOPIC - on an ON TOPIC note I saw a green 200sx in traffic today with cromer exhaust centre stickers on it. I'm assuming it's the one you PM'ed me about Dunc. It must be fate telling me I'm goin to the right shop :)

Hoooooo !!

Well - it looked like a sleeper in traffic.

Lowered - mis-matched wheels, couple of stickers and exhaust. Quite sedate for a drift car/done up silvia.

thats your idea of a sleeper? with that kind of layout i'd expect it to be a thrash car!

I had always thought of a sleeper as stock on the outside and a weapon under the hoodside.. :headspin:

That's what I meant kursed it looked sleeper compared to what it was used for.

I have to report Cromer Exhaust Centre are ****ING CHAMPIONS!!!! (especially David).

I was on my way down there and my car CONKED!! I called them to ask if I could borrow a test light, they said we'll send someone down there for you (champs!)

Along came a nice sounding r33 so I thought yep that'd be the guy - Now for someone I'd never met before David was the most helpful guy - not only did we manage to get my car going (fuel pump issue) to get it to the shop but when we got there he spent a while trying to figure out what went wrong.

I called too_much and as the champ that he is he gave me the pin from the computer of the fuel pump.

We inspected the computer. No current from the fuel pump pin. What the??

We took the plug out of the ECU and it was corroded to the shithaus!@ And when I mean corroded I mean it had been wet for ages! (green and shit)

Water had been dripping in from the engine side of the loom and actually through the loom itself (which I'd never suspected). Some carby cleaner and some air spray gun action sorted that out quick smart and luckily my computer had not blown up. For the fair amount of water in there I was suprised it hadn't - when David hit the spray gun there was enough water to actually spray back at his face.

After helping me out by diagnosing that (by this time it was a lot later than when I was sposed to be there) they still welded up part of my muffler that was hangin lose even though they were technically closed.

I'm definately goin back and if anyone needs any mechanic work done give Cromer Exhaust Centre a ring - one of their stickers is goin on my car and stayin there not only did David know what the shit he was talkin bout but went out of his way to help me with nothin but a smile on his face the whole time.

On top of that he was drinking a longie.... WHAT A CHAMP.

Thanks Duncan for recommending these dudes to me. I'm goin back there next week to get the rest of my muffler sorted.

List of cefiro helpers to date-

ceffo, dumhed, too_much, ant, fab, Duncan (cheerleader), David, Menthu_Rae (FAST). I'm sure I've forgotten 1 or 2 peoples not for un-appreciating but for bad memory.

BIG UP!

  • 3 weeks later...

ok.

Just as I thought I was doing so well I pulled into work (I have the one of the executive GM's parking spots this week) I noticed I'm dripping some oil.

Look under the car and there's a ****ing patch about 40cm in diameter.

Turn off engine. Car stops leaking. Look around, I've dropped oil all the way from the street all down the company car park down to my boss' boss' boss' car spot.

It seemed to have some oil in it as I pulled up, the engine water temp was normal and I wasn't punching it at all so I'm hoping it didn't damage the engine as I have almost no oil left.

Can't tell why it leaked - can't see anything tell-tale from the bottom or top of the car with a torch. Probably some oil lines I somewhere on the passenger side of the engine.

Worst bit is -

a. it's new years eve (happy new years cc)

b. the owner of the spot comes back on Tuesday

c. the toppest execs of the company that owns the company that owns us are having a party here tonight (being NYE and having a good view of circular quay) so they'll be loving the fact the car park looks freakin dirty

d. there's a fat tell tale path of oil right to my car (and my boss' boss' boss' car spot, which in turn reflects badly on her)

e. I can't get the ****er towed out of the carpark (being underground and all)

f. It's NYE and I'm going out NYD.

g. It's NYE.

**** SHIT ARSE.

Thanks guys I think you're on the money.

Went there yesterday (Sunday) with a jack and a light.

Had a look but couldn't find anything. When my mate started the car I had a look underneath and could see oil beading on the turbo oil feed. Thing is I could only spot tiny bits of beading on the line, I couldn't see any on the actual joins.

It's stumped me so I just pushed it to the ramp, put more oil in, started it and drove it up the ramp and had it towed :

The garage can work this one out I think. They can have a look over a few other things and tell me what needs attention.

I'll let ya guys know what it is but I'm hoping they say something like "yeah oil feed line was leaking here and that's why you didn't see it.. that'll be $50"

Fingers crossed.

Ok had it towed to Cromer Exhaust Centre. They're closed till the 17th so they were nice enough to come down and open the shop for me so the car can sit inside till then.

That's bloody service.

Managed to checkout Darren's (slo200) s14 while there with all the new graphics and carbon... mmmmmmmmm mhhmmmm :aroused:

I've given up a bit so they're going to get it to engineering quality for me for engineering (as Victorian rego is running out).

Keep posted.

    • Its a 2002 vr-x four VQ25DET, silver. Coil overs, lowered, polished alloys and sport exhaust. Bit of a project, was sitting in a shed for a while but runs and drives great.
    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
