I didnt say it wold suit anyone did I ......

Looks like bullshit dyno threads are the only ones allowed these days ....

Sorry fane - disregard what I said cause giving another option to nissan with some valid reasons is not allowed.

Dan,

Happy with why you answered Fane's question, and I personally have nothing against the WRX except to say that it ain't my cuppa tea but I respect everyone's different and hence why my answer didn't actually bag your response except to say that we were really only seeking feedback on the cars he'd chosen. The quesiton "which would you choose" was narrowed in choice to three cars and you introduced a 4th into the equation which wasn't asked for. This is what spiked my response. As Niz said, people generally narrow down cars to what appeals to them and then if they are still confused, ask another opinion.

anyway. You would want the 180sx to be at least a 92-94 before paying as much as 15k for one. Any older than that and it should have a bucketload of mods for that price.

as someone said earlier. It depends on what you are after. If you are going to mod and change the turbo, go for the already modified. If you are not going to mod then go for the nice newer stocker..better resale value etc

A car with an AVC-R on a stock turbo makes me extra cautious- who knows how much overboosting has been done. If you are going to upgrade the turbo anyway, who cares.

Ahem! If I could interject with an answer to Kenhuang's question, then you can get back to arguing ......:D

I went for a Series II for three reasons: 1) Dual air bags, 2) ABS Brakes and 3) a Series II of anything is usually better (though not always) because the manufacturer is simply improving a proven product.

Choosing your own mods, rather than inheriting someone else's, is definitely more expensive, but may give you more satisfaction. It may not, but there you go. There are plenty of second hand bolt on goodies around which would keep the cost within reason.

Hope this helps.

Cheers.

:uh-huh:

Exact reason to why i bought a stock r33 then modified it myself. Yeah it might of cost me a few extra dollars (ahem $8000) but i got the look, the sound and the performance i was after.

GO THE SERIES 2 STOCKER!!

thanks for all the help....

yep about the wrx i did test drive it but honestly due to personal preference skyline win in looks handsdwn...

yup. personally the reason y i cramp dwn to these three is because of budget.

most prob i will get the series two....but then i will only left abt 2.5 grand for mods ...1)so what are the mods should i get...i know its very little but thats all i want to spend.

also is2)19grand a gd px?

i am only going to drive this car for a yr...hence what will be the maximum i will lose if say i spent a total of 19000+2500=21500?

at 100000kms...is it still be able to sell easily...by the way guys i am in perth .

IMACUL8 : perhaps I was a bit abrupt (its been a long day). However, you gave no help in choosing from the narrowed down list provided and instead suggested 2 4WD cars. I think comments like "dont bother" are waisting every ones time...

Dave

the thread was which I would buy - i stated my answer and followed on. I then went on to answer a question asked by fane. Whats the problem. Im sorry I didnt realise the high quality of posting in the West Section of late was not met by my first hand experience encounter.

GUN - who the fark said you needed 4wd ??????? Your the only one.

And just so u know - I dont think WRX is oh so wonderful - I was just giviing a guy another option so as to help him make a informed decision in purchasing a car.

s2 + 2.5k

turbo back ~1.5k

pod with bracket ~100bucks (can do lots cheaper for 2nd hand + DIY style)

ebc ~500bucks (could go bleed valve but you will need ebc eventually unless going for a wolf or something)

safc ~350

then rest on tune.

that should give you ~250rwhp @ 10psi or somewhere around there....

next step can be fmic and rims and supension and the list goes on but that would be my start.

anyone elses ideas...

i say safc before fmic because without something to tune it fmic is useless....but safc by itself can be tuned and advantages can be there :D

whats wrong with suggesting a car thats not in the list? Dan was just suggesting a car within the price range that the thread starter might not have thought of.. its not like its done any harm or turned into a flaming match.. at least it has added some useful comparative info between GTSTs and WRXs..

geez.. whats happening to this forum lately..

BamBam

A. It was the way it was said "if its not a GTR dont bother" ..... obviously on a Skylines site thats going to rub a few people up the wrong way

B. The information posted wasnt relevant to the cars he had chosen ...... i mean i could post up the specs to Toyota Echos, Holden Astras and all that but its no use to the poor guy because its not what he wants!

C. Dan quite often stirs shit in threads bashing skylines ..... this is not the first time ... he knows it gets everyones back up - yet he still acts surprised and hurt when it does. Its not constructive and its not helpful - its just shit stirring for the sake of it.

Ken - always try n get a car for cheaper than the advertised price .... offer them $16K and meet a medium from there. For a stock series two $19K is about where the price should be.

Always get the car checked out ..... and after you buy it ..... do a dyno test to make sure the fuel pump isnt faulty etc ..... because neglect that and the car could end up costing you a fair bit.

lately it seems that conflicting views arent allowed on SAU.. im not talking abt this thread in particular, but generally speaking, that seems to be the way its going and a lot of the people who have been here for years are driven away bcoz of this

back on topic... there are a lot of ppl running around in Sivias / 180sx lately due to its relatively cheap price and with it comes a higher ratio of dickheads to real car enthusiats which is unfortunate coz it is really a good car.. im afraid it might be the same for Skylines too as more and more ppl can afford to buy them now

    • Hi, wondering if the HKS bar and water reservoir still available? Thanks

    • An update regarding the registration with the DVLA I sent off the paperwork the day after I collected the car from the port, two weeks later it was all returned with a letter explaining they have rejected the application. This was because the cheque was £20 short for the road tax (I used a price list I found online). Nevermind it is what it is, it was sent back to them the following day with a new cheque. Fast forward another 2 weeks or so, I called them for an update to be told it had been rejected. Yesterday (16th September) I received the documents back along with another letter, this time it was because I didn't put an X in one box on the V750 (personalised number plate certificate), which declared that I had the rights to the personalised number plate. Why this wasn't mentioned in the first rejection letter, I don't know, but it could have saved this headache. The documents were sent back today, so fingers crossed third times a charm and it'll FINALLY be registered on the road just in time for the bad weather (woohoo!) To cheer myself up I lowered the front 25mm, was sick of seeing it sit like a monster truck. No idea how much clearance I'll have getting on and off the driveway, I'll worry about that when I can actually drive it
    • You're going to miss not worrying about rust in the strut towers like the Skyline shitboxes out there
    • A few little updates that weren't filmed due to not taking long to do or not interesting enough for their own video. My new K&N Air Filter arrived, I went with an RU-4180 which matched the dimensions of the universal cone filter the car originally had.  The battery had gone flat, while that was charging I tidied up the spaghetti wiring at the bulk head and down the sides of the engine Next job was to swap the stereo The Kenwood harness had the female ISO plugs cut off and the male ISO plugs cut off the adaptor loom and joined with bullet connectors. I ordered in a repair loom through work and re-did it all. New Kenwood unit installed (Android Auto, DAB, Bluetooth, Reverse Camera) The bonnet/hood gas struts have been poor since collecting the car. I couldn't find any suitable replacements locally so took a chance on a pair from AliExpress.  The originals don't use a retaining clip to secure the cup onto the ball fixture, would explain why I struggled for 10-15mins trying to pry off the cups. The ball fixtures unscrew using a 12mm spanner, new ones are the same size. Sadly no photo of them fitted, you're not missing much lol The dished Momo steering wheel got replaced with my Momo Tuner, turns out I ordered counter sunk bolts for the horn trim ring (like they normally are for the steering wheel) instead of allen cap (flat seat)  A terrible photo of a Quaife style gear shift knob I've had stashed in my tool box for many years after purchasing the incorrect thread size (I can see a pattern emerging with ordering incorrect parts...) Also threw in a cup holder and a (empty) Boss Coffee can, because why not
