Hey Guys,

Its been raining all day today so I have not been able to get pics.. I am exhausted!

The mechanic report came back with:

- 165 to 168 psi across all 6 cylinders

- rhr axle oil seal leaking

- front upper inner bushes worn

- front and rear discs, pads, rotors need replacing

- front upper shock absorber bushes need replacing

- front caster bar bushes need replacing

I drove it around (on trade plates) for most of today and she drives very well, everything works, the air con will need regassing.

With a bit of effort I managed to remove both of the cup holders, unfortunately one of the vents was already broken and moves on its own, so i'm going to see if i can repair it with super glue when i take Gav's advice on fixing the bubble in the dash.

writeoff: Yeah! I feel your pain man. I spent most of today in prayer driving around like a grandma letting the car get used to functioning again.. I'm so glad everything seems okay because the spare cash i've had sitting around for the car has been burning a hole in my pocket for 6 months, and now that its finally here i'm a bit poor

Its finally in the garage wooohooo!!

Hey Guys.

I've got a major problem.

I live on the top of a very steep drive way.. with not a great deal of runup. It's short and on quite an incline. I think its going to kill my car. :)

In a normal RWD'er with enough balls, (or even the old pulsar gtir) I can kind of point it up there, give it a bit of revs, let out the clutch completely at the bottom and storm up the top. (This is the ideal way to do it without burning out my clutch)

I've realised that with the GTR and ATTESSA it kind of bogs down on the low end on anything below about 4000rpm, the poor car putts up the driveway and is either burning the crap out of my (a) clutch (B) transfer case © gear box .. or maybe all of the above. It smells bad.

if I give it enough to do a proper launch i can still smell the clutch burning, so either way i seem to lose.

The only solution I can think of, is tommorow i'll try taking the 4wd fuse out and see how I go, and rely on a bit of clutch slippage at the bottom.

I'm probably still getting used to the car but having to rev over 3,500rpm every time I want to go up my driveway seems excessive, and I dont want to damage the transfer case.

What do you guys think?

LOL..

Yeah, If RWD doesnt work i'll be packing the end of this week .. parking on the street? inconceivable!

Mark: Btw, Thanks mate, hows your girl these days?

Also, is there anything else I have to do other than pull the 4wd fuse? Anything that can happen that I should be wary of?

pentae: No need - just leave it hooked up and reverse the car down when you leave ;) Just don't forget to unhook it before you tramp it up the street! :P

it will be at the bottom of the driveway when you get home ;)

PS, could be also used as an anti-theft device for an unwitting thief :)

Nxtime: Damn, that would actually work.

But i'd still need to get out of the car ;)

Can anyone please tell me if I can pull the 4wd fuse out / put it back in, while the car is running, without damaging anything?

I dont know enough about auto electrics to make my own decision.

I think I might just get a simple toggle switch.. for AWD on / off.. I dont care too much about adjusting the drive split.. I just want an on off switch. Surely this can be done by an auto electrician fairly cheaply? Does anyone else have a toggle switch? Can it be used while driving?

Thanks everyone..

edit: ps. More pics in a few hours! :D

Hey Guys,

Click Here FOR 12 PICS I took of the car after a clean!!

I love this car. I'm still bummed about having to wait 6 months, but i'm happy with the end result.

Can anyone tell me what the damn thing mounted where a turbo timer normally sits in picture 2 is? Its obviously got something to do with the stereo that used to be there.

It says Panasonic on it. :D

    • Check the injectors flow evenly, and are actually flowing what you and the ECU think they should be flowing. If it's starting up on starter fluid, you have a fuel issue. Is it possible under cranking your fuel pump is turning off?   The harness you replaced, is that the whole engine harness? Do yourself a test, and drop the old harness on and plug it into the Z32 ECU. It's possible they've wired things different. From memory S1 to S2 is different in RB25 and you may have a wrong loom
    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
    • I checked spark on all cylinders and they all visually have spark with the plug pulled and grounded, but plug 1 is the only one that fouled. This was a running swap that blew up and was rebuilt by a machine shop, put a new wiring specialties harness and did all gaskets, studs, and bolts while it was out.  compression is 135-150 across all cylinders. Aside from that from my understanding with the z32 ecu and maf the car should start regardless. The wiring for TPS and the dual 02 sensor/ dual knock sensor stuff shouldn’t actually stop the car from starting or even running well, (just slightly rich)  they just give fault codes. Car supposedly is supposed to start as long as you have z32 afm and ecu with the nistune base map and that’s info coming from a well known and trusted tuner who does a lot with SR/RB (Rsenthalpy). After more trouble shooting today where I’m at right now is that the cas is sending signal to the injectors they click while spinning the rotor, Fuel pressure is now set at 43psi, all cylinders have good compression and all of the plugs looked great (just wet with fuel) except for cylinder 1 which was very black (cylinder 1 has 150psi compression). all of the coils generate spark if pulled out and grounded out on the head. On the fuel pump car just pops into the exhaust. On starting fluid car will fire off. Hard to tell if all cylinders are firing off but definitley a couple. sounds like all of them but it’s only for 3-5 seconds hard to tell.
    • Final update!!! Got the front bar fitted and sprayed and all sorted now. My cutouts worked great and the indicators aren’t just falling off. 😂
    • Is this a brand new LSD? if so, have you followed any break/bed in procedure for it? Usually involves heaps of figure 8 patterns, a fluid flush.
