Well after trying to fix my coils with coating the clear part of the coil with silicon, it did fix it somewhat with no mid range misses. So ive upped the boost and seem to get a few other problems , but thats another story.

I decided to leave the coil cover off, and when i got home in darkness had a look underneath for spark. And to my discovery, ive saw lightning on about 4 coils. Will check it again tomorrow night for a better check.

Looks like im up for a new set.

use some Co-Contact cleaner. I was thinking of the same idea about the silcone coating but never did it. My gts-t and GTR did it but just spray them off with the co-contect cleaner and maybe use a soft cloth that should stop the tracking should stop the coil shorting to earth.

you covered the wrong part of the coil.

the clear part never cracks AFAIK.

It is the side opposite to the clear part that cracks.

these photo's from a thread I posted show where they usually crack.

I couldnt find any cracks on the body of the coil as shown in your pic. I found a few little marks on the clear part though. If thats the case i pull them out one by one and try and fix them. Its annoying

Cool...i saw the same thing in the movie Wraith. If its good enough for Charlie Sheen its good enough for me.

So they can get that bad can they?

off topic but

havent watched the movie for a while but what was the car i cant remember?

arent u supposed to earth them somehow b4 u uncover??

maybe bull shit to get more $$ outta me iono

but so much coil talk i posted a pic

THIS A F**D COIL if your looks da same time for new ones

sparks jumpin from coil to coil not goin threw them to the plugs

see da white shit were it looks melted

I had a look last night in the dark. There were at least 4 coils that where lightning up at idle. To my amazement i can still see no cracks. I can see some burnt marks on the side of the coil however, so ive put a bit of araldite on it for some sealent. I will put them back on tonight too see if its worked.

all my coil packs glow blue when you look down the gaps around them. but my car doesnt miss????

has anyone ealse got there coil cover off. have a look at night and tell me if you can see a flickering glow. my car seems to be a little down on power when compared to other cars with the same set up.

    • I am yet to see anyone ever regret a quaife or helical. ...other than drifting/skidpan duties. I kind of want to upgrade my factory helical with a Quaife (but really it's not ultimately that different, and is a MASSIVE UNDERTAKING), that's how good the hype is about them, that I want to try them 'just to see'
    • D2 and Ksport are essentially the same thing and basically just generic Taiwanese manufacture. Better than ChinaBay crap, but... not top shelf. Öhlins have got to be some of the best dampers around, so likely to be a good option. It's going to get to the point though where I suggest you buy from Oz. We have at least 2x excellent options here. If I were you though, I'd be talking to KW about doing something for the R33. There's bugger all difference between that and the 32. In GTR land, anyway.
    • KW only offers a set for the R32 GTR. Popular options are D2 racing, Ksport or Öhlins. I have a D2 Racing coilover set, though I don't know for sure which one.
    • Well, the good news is you have more than one very good option for new coilovers in and around your country. Worth the drive over to KW to talk about GTR stuff.
    • Fair enough, I am in no way a tire expert so I'm not familiar with all the terms and conditions. I'll definitely note down the AD09 to potentially try in the future. Rain is not too big of a concern for now as I will probably only drive in the rain when I have to. And considering I still lack experience driving the GTR I'd more than likely take it easy too. I have coilovers in the car but as I barely got to drive so far I never bothered to even check if they are adjustable haha. The suspension is almost entirely old and worn as well so I suppose when I eventually fix that in the future that would make a huge difference.
