I have noticed on Ebay alot of SSAutochrome turbo manifolds have been purchased by Austrailian bidders. These manifolds have had a huge problem with breaking and cracking. Is anyone down here using these manifolds with success? There has also been problems with these manifolds not fitting at all. Just want to warn you guys to be prepared since they will not warrent any of their products.

Well. I got one for my car, and a lot of people I know have them too. I havent heard of anyones crack on the forum yet, and they fit perfectly. Some peoples flanges needed a quick mill, but other than that its fine. One guy has it has had it on his car for well over a year now with constant thrashing and nothings happened yet.. I wouldnt go bad mouthing a product you have not used. If it breaks so what, just buy another one. You could buy 5 for the price of a HKS one (not that Im saying the HKS is not worth it).

No need to be so defensive, he is just trying to warn people from getting ripped off, and obviously he has had negative experiences surrounding them....

i got an entire catback system for my dad's ceffy from em, a bargain at $360 including shipping. I couldn't give a rats arse if it cracked, I'd just weld it back up and use it again, but then again iss an exhaust and not a manifold. But so far so good.

I'm gonna get some CA18 manifolds n kit from em, and am in the process of talking to the guys over there and organising a mini group buy for a couple of other guys in melb, so we can ship em together n save some $$$.

Its not exactly what I'd use for high power applications which stress the units greatly, but it's a nice upgrade from stock.

they do RB20DET stuff too... god knows why they did the ceffy exhaust, since no one in America has a RB20DET ceffy, or any ceffy for that matter. Apprently it was a once off.

Nah sorry, just sayin you know. Alot of people go around badmouthing these products without any actual experience. Hybrid intercoolers were like that when they first started out, now they've become real popular you know? So I say, give a product a go...

I've heard a lot of annecdotal evidence that they're shit - but the people I've talked to who actually have one have no problems.

These come from China - SS Auto add on their own margin on top.

There's someone in Aust. selling them cheap. I'd spend a coupla hundred on one I'd reckon.

T.

don't expect a lot out of em, for a first upgrade to your car on a budget they're cool. but don't expect anything more than a 20% rise in performance without breaking something.

I can get em direct from the manufacturer in China, basically the whole of their stock comes from the same Chinese supplier, you'd save a bit on shipping etc though.

no need to be sorry! :P

personally a friend of mine knows the guy who supplies the ss stuff in sydney (mostly sells the cat back and full exhaust systems) and i have only heard good things about them, and would not hesitate to buy one myself. havnt seen/heard much about the manifolds though.

    • Mixing things up - installed some leather recaros to match the leather seat covered rear seats. Interior looks pretty schmick now except for some slight wear on the steering wheel which I will monitor and address if it becomes worse or actually noticeable!

The project cars I'm always doing things slowly on them as I'm wanting them to be done better, and neater, and nicer. Luckily I don't have to deal with 18 year old Matt's "Learning to wire" stuff in the project cars. And there's only one piece of wiring I'm displeased about in the Landcruiser, and it's about to be cut out... However, the box loads of parts that have been going through this place lately for the Landcruiser... Brake pads Brake Rotors Full handbrake overhaul Wheel Bearings Seals Swivel hubs Steering Boxes Half the suspension joints Shocks Air bags (Ones to go in the rear springs for towing) Water pump Timing kit Lower timing case Harmonic Balancer Radiator Lots of other little seals and shits Gas struts for the bonnet New power window switches And god knows what else I've forgotten... Ha ha ha I have my fingers crossed the pinion seals don't start leaking on the diffs, that the transfer case doesn't leak, and the gearbox input shaft doesn't leak, nor the rear main seal. As they're about the only seals I haven't replaced in the driveline! I'm seriously eyeing off buying new caliper rebuild kits front and rear brake calipers... I'll probably recheck all the valve clearances soon too, and hopefully, it should be all good and sweet to haul some long distance trips again!
    • Every time I pull my 3x gauges out of the console and see the crack-addict way that I did the wiring, and I just can't bring myself to tear it all apart and "make it nice", because it is currently working. In fact, the last time I was in there I probably made it worse.
