Tein Setup

Was wondering how much a full tein setup would cost, me including shocks, adjustable springs and other stuff like camber kit and stuff. Also would this be a good setup on my R33, the car needs to be lowered for looks and also want a big improvement in handling.

Is there any other setup i should consider??

Well a full Tein HA, brand new are between $2K and $2.3K

height and damper adjustable, yet VERY firm and bumpy ride...

they do a huge amount to the handling of the car however i do suggest a front swaybar replacement with a stiffer one from whiteline, rear should be ok, unless you plan on drifting!

as for camber etc, bit harder to change on these cars as the adj. strut tops dont do anything on an R33.. double A arm suspension..

so you need to get bushes or adj. arms etc..

Just some thoughts on TEIN suspension, I am looking for comments from those WITH experience in track/competition. (based on comments made above)

My experience (little) and reading suggest that there are 2 trains of thought on setting up a car for track/road work.

1- Strong springs and weak swaybars.

2- Strong sway bars and week springs.

Would setting up a skyline with TEIN HA's and swaybars (especially stiffer aftermarket ones) be too stiff and result in poor handling?

I realise that the surface plays a big part in the choice of suspension (I dont expect to se my TEIN HAs on a rally car any time soon) so I am assuming a suitabally smooth and hard surface.

Has anyone here used TEIN HAs on the track and can advise on the sway bars they use (perhaps SK )

i had tein HA in my R33 and whiteline rear sway bar.

thinking of putting the front too but i give up coz TOO stiff.

IMO they are too stiff and i feel scare coz it's too bumpy and the rear seems not on the ground when i trash though the hill.

On NICE road they are very good, so i assume they will work great on track.

I've recently installed a set of Tein Type Flex's after a long time deciding whether or not to go jap coilovers vs bilstein shocks/whiteline spring setup. I'm extremely happy with my choice as the Tein's are not too firm as most ppl said they would be. The springs are rated 6kg/mm front and rear with adjustable height and shocks. Cost me roughly $1800 all up to get into the country including tax so they're good value! Had to wait 8 weeks for them to arrive tho:P

my 32 came with tein height adjustables with blisten shocks, also has a strut brace on the front of it.

havent had any track work with it but a bit of late nite rally work in the hills.

ride is a bit more bumpy than some of the other skylines i have riden in/driven but the handeling is second to none. point your car any direction and gas it and it sticks to the road like it has claws

There's a tonne of j-brands out there on the same standard as tein.

when i 1st got my tein h/a installed it was alot bumpier than the stock set up that i had, but i got used to it and it doesnt bother me much, on a couple big bumps the back end bounced up coz it was very light at the rear (not much though) i have since put my stereo in the boot which seems to hold the ass down, hopefully that will help gettin traction takin off coz it wheelspins too easy atm...

great handling with the teins, my car also has 19s on it so its more harder ride but im not complainin...
