RNS11Z
Any differences from factory in the Rb26dett pistons/ rods/ crank or block?? Or have they been the same since the r32?? Can you use pistons and rods from a r34gtr engine in a r32gtr engine?? Is 350rwkw achievable on a stock rb26dett bottom end with good compression and no fatal signs of blowing up soon?? If im correct this set up should do a mid to low 11 at the high 120mph mark. Blitz
Harun, 350kw shouldnt be a problem so long as the engine is in good condition with good tuning and plentiful fuel supply. As for the bottom end differences, im not 100% so I will leave that for someone else to answer Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/56488-gtr-bottom-end-any-diff-between-3234/#findComment-1095180 Share on other sites
GZ R33
350kw at all 4 is very common, even up to 380 kw is not unheard of. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/56488-gtr-bottom-end-any-diff-between-3234/#findComment-1095265 Share on other sites
Emre
The crank collar on the R32s is the only difference I know. If you keep the revs to within factory limits you shouldn't have an issue with that. Pistons and rods are interchangable if not identical. They may have changed the quality of the metals in the hardware over the period of 10 years but I'm not sure. The top end is slightly different, but that wasn't your question. 350rwkw is quite achievable, the question is, what do you intend to do with that 350rwkw. It should be OK on the drag strip but may be stressed on the circuit. No problems with the low 11s and mid to high 120mph either. RNS11Z
Thanks for the reply guys. The car would be set up for more circuit racing. How ever it will see the occasional Drag/ drift day. Im not too wise on GTR engines and not sure of how much power they can take before you need to upgrade the internals. Emre: That is what i heard. Same size/ type/ style piston and rods though different materials. Also i believe r34 has larger valves and different cam to the r32/3 engine. GTRsean
So 9000rpm+ in my stock internals 32GTR isn't a good thing!!! Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/56488-gtr-bottom-end-any-diff-between-3234/#findComment-1101651 Share on other sites
N I B
Early R32s had a short oil pump drive that can and does cause trouble but later 32s and all 33-34 have the wide drive. If you have an early crank Jun have a kit to fix this problem but it is crank out to fit. GTRsean
Mine a 1992 model. Might be okay then. I've only hit it (9000+) a couple of times unintentionally! so I'm thinking a shift light would be a good investment. sweetr33
i got an r33 gtr crank in my rb25 which has the larger oil pump drive to suit the n1 oil pump we put on also. If u get the earlier crank with the smaller drive it cost roughly 500 to machine to suit. If ur swapping whole engine for rb26 then i dont think u will have a drama Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/56488-gtr-bottom-end-any-diff-between-3234/#findComment-1104003 Share on other sites
N I B
New RB26 crank is around $1100 now. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/56488-gtr-bottom-end-any-diff-between-3234/#findComment-1104763 Share on other sites
