Hey Guys,

Well, we took the car back for day #2 of dynoing the RB26DETT 240SX..

Yesterday, we experienced some motor knock, and found out the timing was advanced to 22 degrees...

Today, we retarded the timing to 18 degrees and gapped the spark plugs to 0.8....

At factory PSI, the car dynoed 251kw, and 263.6 lbs of torque...93 octane pump gas..

At 14.7 PSI , car dynoed 286kw and 318.3 lbs of torque...93 octane pump gas..

I believe with a SAFC, we can smooth out the power curve and pick up another 12-19 kw....

Here's the dyno graphs showing baseline and high boost...chart shows rear wheel Horse Power as measured on Dyno Jet...

For reference, my stock motor from a R32 made 253rwkw @ 1 bar dynodynamics, but that is the usual 98 octane.

93 octane would be a serious disadvantage, and, although its hard to estimate I'd figure with my basic math it'd be somewhere between 190rwkw and 205rwkw dynodynamics.

There is certainly a bit more power in a better tune

My motor is a R33 RB26DETT....

Keep in mind, I am RWD! The motor is in a 240SX (AU 200SX/Silvia)

I don't lose anywhere close to the drivetrain loss you AWD guys do...

And while the difference in your dyno dynamics is different, it's not that big...

I will get some dyno comparisons, but its no more than 20kw from seing my friends cars...

Most of us GTR boys don't do awd dynos, we drop our front shaft, and go on a RWD dyno...

My RB26DETT stock motor/ecu, with adjustable cam gears and an exaust, boost uped to 1bar (~15psi) pulls about 280rwkw in shootout mode, which is considered good on standard turbos/cams etc....

Maybe you have adjustable cam gears? where do you find boost coming on full?

You can't draw a "direct comparision" between the US Dynojet power figures vs. the Aussie Dyno Dynamics - simple as that! The same car run on both dynos back to back would give a markedly different result... the higher figure being on a dynojet.

The late Todd Wilkes did quite a bit of research into these two dynos and published the results for all to see on his website - http://www.twinturbov8.com/dynostuff.htm

This is not an attempt to take anything away from your results underground... just stating some basic facts bewteen the two dynos.

two.06l: adjustable cam gears ? what ECU? what boost?

no cam gears as yet, power fc running default map on 15psi. we are shooting for over 300rwkw. have just fitted engine pipes, will be fitting cam gears(with DIRTgarages secret specs) and going for a full tune.300 should not be too far away.

    • If it (the code) wasn't still current, it should have gone away by itself by now. No, nothing it 10/10. But it is quite likely. Everything else to do with the ignition could still be responsible (which is wires and connectors). The car is an old piece of shit now, so all the wires and connectors are also old pieces of shit.
    • Lock me in mate, although I'm not sure if I'll be heading up from Goulburn or down from Sydney, either way, return will be back to Goulburn
    • Sounds good, we will aim to be there! @The Bogan I'll give you a shout if you are heading up to campbelltown for the meet too.
    • Before I get to the test day, just to finish off the android head unit. This is a demo from car start up....the standard/host system takes a few seconds to boot (same as all v37) but Android comes up quickly. In this vid I'm using the delivered launcher but have set the default to Agami since which is easier to navigate when if use primarily 5 apps. You can see the host system still takes over when required eg putting it in reverse, and you can switch between Android and not by holding the back button 3 sec. It is pretty responsive (fast) but you can see I had to press harder than expected a couple of times.  I still have the phone connected to the stock system, and that also seamlessly takes over Android music playing. v37-android-demo.mp4 The bigger reason that I put this in though is so that I can use Ecutek directly on the head unit. That gives me a dash with logging (up to 20MB only), high and low value warnings on any parameter etc etc. I've run a USB cable from the Ecutek OBD dongle to a USB input on the unit, easy. v37-ecutek-demo.mp4   The unit did freeze on the launcher the other day, I think Agami was trying to verify the license when it didn't have a data connection...will monitor and report back if there are any other problems but so far I'm very happy with the upgrade.
    • Nah that is just crappy GPS mapping, I did have a small excursion (cold tyres, damp track, surprise!), will post up that when I get a chance.
