bang on the mark straightsix.............i was reading a book today called Crap Cars (i think it's only availabe in the UK) about all the dud's from each manufacturer........and the 924 was porshe's saying porshe was to manufacture a 2 door sports car for VW but VW pulled out after the car was developed and so porshe badged it themselves..........

well i definately  know the vl dont  come in a (V6) to start with, and think the porshe is the go, if anything.interested hey mic33r nice pic mate and gday again .

Thanks Wilso. It's from the Japanese anime Spirited Away. Check it out some time.

928s in my oppinion arent too crach hot, I know of someone in the US who ripped out the porka engine and put in a 350 chev as it was cheaper to run, more reilable, cheaper on parts, made more power, was quicker, and 150kgs LIGHTER.

how do you fit a 350chev in this?? must be painful..

A 350 Chev would be a much more compact motor than the 4.5/5/5.4L SOHC Porsche V8s, being an ol' pushrod motor...

Also you could get rid of that mechanical injection & twin dizzy business.

forget about the 924, i own one, its sits in the shed under a cover....terrible car, poor handling and piss poor performance. the interior is squashy and outdated, the hatch area is terribly small, the motor is a shocker to work on and you will work on it, often. parts are hard to come by and expensive from new.

good luck with it.

cheers

Linton

A 924 is not a Porcshe.  It is some old crapper with an old Audi motor.

:werd: and an Audi light truck motor at that...

As much as I like Porsches I would have to say don't buy a 924. Don't go, don't handle, don't stop. All the thing Porsches are known for. :)

If you want a Porsche that handles, stops, sweet to drive, pretty as a picture (but has no go....:( )then get a 912! :uh-huh:

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
