Power FC is in which I bought second hand, and just running of the base map... The guy I bought it of, had already done the start up procedures, so pretty much just took out the old ecu, and replaced it with the Power FC...

Everything runs fine, however this light comes on and stays on... What does it mean and is it a good or bad thing???

I am going to get my car dyno'd but not till Janaury (Christmas presents are expensive!)

So can anyone identify my light problem?

umm, that is not good. That's the check engine light, which usually means you have no oil pressure or something has gone drastically wrong with your engine. In your case however, with a PFC fitted, the PFC uses the check engine light to tell you that your engine is detonating. Sometime the value at which the PFC will display the warning is set very low, this could be your problem, either way, check it out.

So using the hand controller, how do I go and change the setting so the light is not on??? ie moving the warning up? And what should it roughly be set at?

It was fine when I had the stock ecu in, there was no light thingy.... Should I be driving round the next month or so like this????

If its running of the base map, it shouldnt be detonatin right??? I mean, I took it for a spin, everything seemed alright, ie engine temp, boost stayed constant @ 7psi still

Its a base map tuned for japanese ignition timing on japanese fuel. I wouldnt go around flogging it too much, but I am sure other people will disagree with me.

Does the light flash? The Power FC warning lights flash a sequence of codes, not stay on solid. Check and make sure that the boost controller option is turned off on the power fc. While the car usually doesnt start if this is on (and you dont have the PFC boost controller), I have heard of some starting and just showing the warning light.

At the moment running optimax on the car.... The light does not flash, it just stays on constantly.... So even though its on, and Im running off a base map, is it still stable to drive??? Everything seems fine when i drive it

Im guessing it would be stable to drive over the next week or so... I think ill get my dyno done earlier now...

If it's on and stays on, regardless of how you drive, chances are you still have the boost controller function turned on in the PFC, and don't actually have the boost control unit.

Ok, ill go check that out now.... Did anyone else ever have this problem??

  • 3 months later...

Those are the reverse EL dials.... I bought them from a Group Buy off here last year sometime...

Anyhow, the dials are gone now, and im back to the standard dash, but have red LED lights in it, which makes the numbers light up all red at night. Matches the amber defi's :P

this ones easy, your running a pfc with no apexi boost controller right?

if u check yr settings you'll prolly find the boost control is set to on.

THanks, yeah that was the problem... Had the problem ages ago when i just tested the PFC in the car... But now its all tuned, and making some healthy figures... ;)

    • Mixing things up - installed some leather recaros to match the leather seat covered rear seats. Interior looks pretty schmick now except for some slight wear on the steering wheel which I will monitor and address if it becomes worse or actually noticeable!

The project cars I'm always doing things slowly on them as I'm wanting them to be done better, and neater, and nicer. Luckily I don't have to deal with 18 year old Matt's "Learning to wire" stuff in the project cars. And there's only one piece of wiring I'm displeased about in the Landcruiser, and it's about to be cut out... However, the box loads of parts that have been going through this place lately for the Landcruiser... Brake pads Brake Rotors Full handbrake overhaul Wheel Bearings Seals Swivel hubs Steering Boxes Half the suspension joints Shocks Air bags (Ones to go in the rear springs for towing) Water pump Timing kit Lower timing case Harmonic Balancer Radiator Lots of other little seals and shits Gas struts for the bonnet New power window switches And god knows what else I've forgotten... Ha ha ha I have my fingers crossed the pinion seals don't start leaking on the diffs, that the transfer case doesn't leak, and the gearbox input shaft doesn't leak, nor the rear main seal. As they're about the only seals I haven't replaced in the driveline! I'm seriously eyeing off buying new caliper rebuild kits front and rear brake calipers... I'll probably recheck all the valve clearances soon too, and hopefully, it should be all good and sweet to haul some long distance trips again!
