Hmm do you think Initial D is a good impression of what cars look like and can do?? I mean its pretty realistic...sorta. and realli the only thing missing is the clutch! The movie is featuring D1 drivers as the characters, so i doubt there will even have a proper story!!! WHY DONT THEY HAVE R33'S IN INITIAL D?! EXPLAIN THAT TO ME!!

ok initial d is cartoon :)

an r33 isnt a good drift car, due to its weight (but again this really isnt the case if the driver knows what he is doing, as there have been much heaver cars drift in the d1 etc)

and initial d has the clutch :) it

oh dude change colour of ur text i cant read it

Very true it is a cartoon, but you dont see R33 2 doors when the D1 drivers drift in a skyline, they always have 4 door, even though they still rarely use a R33 in it, its usually the 34, which i really dont like much... and where do you see the clutch?!?!

i cant remember but i have watch all eps from stage 1 to stage 4 (inc the newly rls eps7 and 8) and there is a clutch.

my thread on the 4dr is that is has an affect once it starts drifting to hold the drift longer or better you can say due to the increase in lenght or something like that

what i ment was they could of put a clutch in the game, not the episodes... ino theres a clutch in the episodes... dl battle stage, saves you the trouble of watching all the series... i mean a 86 wouldnt be much use in automatic lol

ohh do u mean the arcade game?

yeh thats what i was ment to say.. lol

see wouldnt it be mad and a good starter for leaners if they got used to using a clutch and blah blah with cars... i mean they make enough money as it is with all there products... it costs $25,000 to buy two version 3 machines, think about how much money you would make $2 each game....

Hard Drivin' had a clutch and amazingly realistic steering feel and wind noise sound...

It also had shitful graphics!

Some versions of 355 Challenge have a clutch too (I used to have the Chadstone lap record for Suzuka long)...

But i have never seen any with a clutch
Ferrari F355 Challenge by SEGA AM had a clutch... but the gear stick was on the righthand side, so it was hard to get used to. Awesome 3-screen setup, and the clutch was super heavy with a notchy 6-speed 'box. Best driving arcade game ever.

Heres our man Shuey having a go:

Very intresting.... would of been nice if people that make the games could hear this, sometimes if they just took quotes or something the game would be made a whole lot better, but i guess they make enough money as it is at the moment.... theres a new initial d machine being made aparently and it has a flat screen, now that is pretty impressive!!

i have a friend who has spent (seriously) hundreds, possibly thousands on the initial d machines. i had a go of it, and the lack of a clutch kinda ruined it (i dont go to arcades very often) plus you have to fight for the machines, all the little kids play it. i dont think they even realised that your meant to drift, as they pick integras ect. and i think it is for that reason they havent, and probably wont, put in a clutch, cause the most of the kids wont know what the hell it is. you rarely see any nissans being used. plus its too fast. the makers of gran turismo realised this years ago, and everyone still makes ther games ridiculosly fast. version 3 is an improvement over v2.

what do u mean by rediculously fast? as in the game doesnt last long or the cars are too fast??

on the same note, did they ever release intial d pal version for PS2??  dont really wanna chip my PS2 thats all.

No only released in Jap NTSC - but you don't need a chip if your TV supports NTSC. PAL PS2's will play all NTSC games just fine. I've got heaps of NTSC games on a bog stock never-opened Aus ver 5/6 PS2.

Something to think about.

Flat screen? All the new games in Japan (going back what a year or two) all have flat screens... what are you talking about?

    • Nice one, I'd argue that the white S1 RS260 is certainly the best looking of the Stageas. And yes, fully agree on the forum situation. It's a bit of a shame, but at least SAU is a good place to be. I found the facebook groups to give me FOMO because people were trying to one-up each other and show off in some way. Feels much more natural here. There are people with seriously nice builds, but I can appreciate it rather than it making me question my life choices. Might be that people are more open with sharing how much work/money/suffering it takes to actually get there.
    • Evening, wanted to pop in and finally register to say hi to everyone here on SAU!   It's been a while since I've been active on a forum, but back in the day I used to be relatively active on ClubLexus and other hobby-related forums. I'm glad to see SAU is still around, since with the advent of Facebook and Discord it seems forums aren't what they once were. As a recent new owner of an S1 260RS Stagea, I've found so many older guides and helpful tips from SAU that I figured I needed to join and say a grave thank you. My recent acquisition has only become legal in the US for the past year, and knowing that similar car enthusiasts from across the pond have already figured out the kinks and tricks to get these 25+ year old cars running well. I look forward to diving into more of the SAU forums as well as hopefully contribute some info myself for future posterity.   As a pic tax, here is one of the few good photos I have of my Stagea. I hope to get way more in the future!
    • Is this where I say "Hey man my airbox cost me horsepower in my Naturally Aspirated Engine"? (I know you need them for legality in NSW)
    • 1.5mm alloy folded up, it will need a tweek, as the angled bend only got to around 45° as that was the max that the break press would get with the other bends, and I needed a fair bit more, but and the alloy is easy to bend too my will by hand once I trim the lower section out I'll Dremel out and form the angle and mounting point on the lower section when time permits  As for the lid, I'm looking at going a "cap", instead of a flat lid to hide the fixtures a bit
