Aussie gets WRC drive

Just incase you didn't know Mark Webber isn't the only one this year to get a good drive in international motorsport. The other is Chris Atkinson, who just got a drive with Prodrive in a WRX World Rally Car to compete in the majority of the events for the 2005 season.

I knew that your test went well, but i remember you saying that it felt a bit slow. Why did you turn them down?

I dont think many people on this sight know what rallying is. Thats right, they only know how to drive in a straight line :jk:

i have done some rallying before just on dirt roads wen i used to own a subaru brumby and a couple of months ago i did the wrx experience thing and did really well

good coverage? the ITV coverage that channel ten show is excellent. I like having a chick do most of the commentating too, she is good. plus they have those excellent computer graphics they use to good advantage (like when they overylay two cars so you can see the different lines two drivers take and where one is quicker than the other). back on topic, it's good news for atkinson.

Not too much glamour associated with rallying.

Hard to find good coverage, dirty spectator sport and hard to do/practice.

Awesome skill involved though...

Oh, and no skyline rally cars.  

Hope he does really well. You dont get too many opportunities at that level.

But, hey good on him if you can and best of luck to him. Hopefully he will be a better success than our last great white hope but I can only *guest* that.hehe

Shame they juggled the whole ARC calender around so he could do the World Production Cup and now he isn't...

Yeh i know where your coming from. But that would be same as most of them competing in the WRC
