Fiddling with pads

Recommended Posts

Im running Race Brakes Comp 9 pads. Looking at some pricey pads they can have a slot in them...whats the purpose of the slot.

lol...so next question, if i get out the trusty grinder, would a normal cutting disc be ok, or would i need an eg masonry wheel ?!?!?

Im pretty sure the main purpose of the slot is for dust removal. Which would mean better braking and less noise. I also am pretty sure they are also meant to be used as wear indicators as wel as the groove doesnt ussualy always go to the backing plate of the pad.

And id say a normal cutting wheel would do the job, brake pads arent that hard. Have fun!
