I cant remember the thread which this was in but it must be a pretty common issue in these things that have any decent amount of power. Generally the straighter the better otherwise it can cause more stress on the parts and brackets involved. The cefiro drivetrain isnt quite straight which u cant really tell from the pic below cause i had already taken the prop shaft out and had my bro in law weld in some new home made sections out of some pretty heavy duty metal washers and nuts.

In this pic (below) you can see one of the 2 main bolts that bolts up into the section pictured above... it had ripped out the entire section of metal that it bolted into and at the top of the circled red section you can see that one is missing... because it sheered the bolt off completely.

yeah that thing lol

bosses im guessing (you have to remember im not a mechanic and dont know shit about this sort of thing lol altho im sure u guessed) you mean the part the bolts screw into?

a thick set of nuts which we welded onto a thick washer and cut to fit... much stronger than what was originally there.

Thanks nark for the pics. That makes a lot more sense now.

Atleast I know what to point out to the guys at cromer exhaust. This sounds like something I would like to do.

I managed to drop my tailshaft about 3-4 times in my XW. It's not a pretty good sound to hear that thing flopping around bouncing between your car and the ground while you lose power :boohoo:

no especially not in a ceffy cause it pops up and hits u right in ur arse lol... i had to limp the car home about 1.5ks from where i did it cause i couldnt get a towie in time...

man i was shittin bricks when we were trying to get it home...

it was hanging down and still connected as you can see in the bottom pic... limped half way home then got towed by my bro in laws jeep at 20kmh  everytime it made that noise i cringed waiting for something worse to happen.

dont see any stress marks...

should be ok... just dont go giving it too many hard launches :D

just make sure when it does happen that u fix it properly.... find a good welder.

    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
    • I'm not going to recommend an EBC pad. I don't like them. Just about anything else would suit me better. I've been using Intima pads for a while now.
    • Agreed, and in particular the earth strap that should go from the subframe to the chassis but it often broken or left off. There is a section in the R32 workshop manual you can follow for troubleshooting if you don't see anything suspicious, and depending where you are (there is no location on your user profile) you should be able to get your hands on a second hand replacement unit still if needed
    • Yeah they mention as a R34 for 2.5 Turbo...but then again thos "small" were also for R34 by that different site. But i look into it and that 310mm EBC is for R34 GTT. And by those you linked the specs are the same 🙂    EDIT: I found these on one site here: DBA 4000 series T3 DBA42304S They are 310mm...and it says are for R34GTT...are there good? EDIT2: ok they have pads too.  What "color" should i get for street use? I dont want/need some noisy ones...(and if they are not that dusty that is good too)
