MIVEC: yeah, may as well go straight to the top, and yes Richard, make those infringement notices vanish too!! I am appearing in court in april to contest 3 of them! Another suggestion is the car parks at russell, central to all and we wont hold anyone up. I agree that it is a good idea to inform the cops.

Ok an update. MIVEC, the ACT AFP have been informed and i have recieved a response.

An extract from the response....

"AFP - ACT Policing have no objections to the Charity Drive taking place on the 13th February 2005."

This is on the proviso that all conditions set by ACT Urban Services or

any other ACT Government Body are adhered to, any conditions set by any

Federal Government Agency are to be adhered to.

and further...

"The responsibility for the running of the event rests with the event organisers, not the Australian Federal Police. It is the event organisers' responsibility to ensure that all officials involved in the event, along with those participating, spectating and the general public, are able to perform their business in a safe manner."

With that in mind I would like to advise that everyone who attends should drive in a safe manner. I am now finding out what approval needs to be provided to become an "official event organiser".

Thanks to Alah that the 13th is a Saturday and not a Friday. Friday the 13th would not bode well, Not that I am supersticious or anything!

Fingers Crossed X all goes well.

Isn't the 13th of Feb',2005,a Sunday,Richard?!

Oh,I sent Glenn(CammaS15) a large PM with some ideas...

Cheers Jayce, PM sent back.

I have spoken to the Venue and Bookings Coordinator @ the Museum as well as the National Capital Authority about the use of the car park. I should get an answer whether approval will be provided early next week.

Another possible site for the start is up at Telstra Tower...

and yep 13th is a Sunday

Black Mountain Tower might not be a good idea.... plenty of chance for someone silly to end up in the bushes

National Museum car park is large, and everyone knows where it is, so that's a good one. Also there are a few car parks in the City which would be deserted on a Sunday, like the one opposite Rydges, behind the Police station.

yer i reckon r31's idea is the goods. that carpark is always empty and has heaps of room.

in my opinion the museum carpark was designed by someone who knew they'd never have to park there: like lots of new car parks (woden kfc, for example), more keen on fitting cars in than making spaces reasonable. did you want to open your doors? no can do.

Yeah, we discussed that on Tuesday night at the Jerra.

Our thinking, and Jayce has probably already mentioned it to Glenn, but if we just buy a few boxes of cheap stickers from Woolworths/Coles, and each car who has donated, pops a sticker on, gets s stamp, whatever.

Yep, Jayce brought it up with me and stickers is definately on the cards. Some good suggestions on the meeting place, thanks all. Once I find out the result about the Museum I will post up whether its a goer or we have to change.

    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
