Would anyone here be keen on doing a group buy or similar on some lowered springs to suit the Stagea?

I would most likely be looking at getting King Springs to make them from a sample that I will send to them or most likely a suspension shop up here that I get some good pricing from (friends father owns it) that will measure them etc. and pass the details onto them.

Im certain if we get a few keen buyers the price would drop and also we might be lucky for future people that they might keep a design and make a part number and keep them in stock that we can refer others to down the track..

Now seeming the Stagea has a standard ground clearance of 145mm I would be thinking a 30-35mm drop would be my preferred height, anyone else?

I can organise a price comparison with Whiteline springs, they are already available.:P

PS, you do need to be carefull with the rear height in particular. They are a waggon and when you want to carry stuff, you don't want the rear windscreen wiper dragging on the ground.

Sydneykid: Damn didnt know whiteline had them available already, certainly be up for buying some of them, just didnt know any brands actually had them as a part number.. You dont happen to know the part number? :( What kind of height drop are the whitelines?

True point for most people there about the wagon, personally though Ill never use the wagon part for major loading except maybe a rare time once a year... Im just going more for the better look, not a dropped on its guts looked, just a good tyre just about matched to guard look, with about 40mm max :(

I'm getting my suspension all measured up next week by a place called Inline suspension in Queanbeyan. They're a whiteline dealer as well as others such as king, tein, bilstein etc. i can get the measurements from them if it would help

Anyways back to the topic looks like a few people are keen so Ill see what prices these coils will be after the weekend..

I was lead to believe that the springs were different to any skylines but the shocks were front GT-R and rear GTS-T?

yes the front are gtr and rear are gts-t for the shocks, as i tried to bolt up a set of coil overs from a gtr and the rears didnt fit because the gtr ones have a fork end on em and stagea has the eye end (same as gts-t).

but im not sure if the gts-t shockies would suit a wagon with such a heavy rear end compared to a gts-t 2 door????

sydneykid are the whiteline coilovers as good as japanese brands like apexi, tein, etc???

Once again, the Bilsteins are R33GTR fronts and R33 GTST.

The standard Stagea front spring rate is lower than R33 GTR, so the front shocks have no problems handling the Stagea springs (even +30% in rate) and an upgraded stabiliser bar.

If you are intending to carry loads in the rear and increasing the spring rate much above standard then I would suggest an upgrade in the rear Bistein valving. If you are going up in the spring rate say 30% or less and not intending to carry heavy loads, then the standard Bilstewin claving will be OK.

In my humble opinion the Japs don't know how to valve shock absorbers, the subtleties evade them. Add in Australian roads and they are not worth considering.

Whiteline haven't released their Group4 kit for Skylines YET, when they do I would recommend them. Until then it is Bilsteins for me, I have 3 sets on my cars.:D

    • They are under bucket shims. Tomei provides a test shim kit and then any measurement of shim required. 
    • I always wondered how you were supposed to buy a set of 24 buckets and somehow magically have every single one of them yield exactly the desired clearance. I would have thought you'd need to assemble a cam with either 12 "sample" or "example" buckets of known top thickness (or a single such sample/example 12 times over!!) measure clearances at every valve, and then do the usual math to work out what the actual "shimness" of each bucket needed to be, before buying the required buckets to make up he thicknesses that you didn't have on hand.
    • I now seem to be limited in power due to my rev limit/hydraulic lifters in my built RB25. I'm looking into converting over to Tomei solid lifters. Question for anyone that has done the conversion. I was always under the impression that when using the Tomei solid lifter conversion, you would also require new valves (Longer or shorter stems, I can't remember which).  I don't know where I got this idea, as so far I see no mention of this in any of the Tomei documentation. It just states I need the Tomei solid buckets, solid lifter cams and upgraded springs. As my head is already built, all I would need is another set of 1000$ Kelford cams, 500$ buckets and about 4H hours of my time installing and I'm off to the races!?!? There's no way it's that simple, I must be missing something? 
    • I couldn't agree more. I should have started from the get-go with a NEO or solid bucket conversion. I started looking into converting over to solid lifters yesterday.
