Joe to tell you the truth I am not a fan of the GTS,

however the GTS 4 you own is an exception to the rule, I mean the silver trim on the door did it for me straight away! I think the GTS4 is a VERY good building block if you were to build a cheap but NICE high performance car... eg GRACER. That is a $100,000 GTR that has won a few awards (HI Octane 2 Vid) Beleive it or not that started out as a GTS4, so i think respect is to be given to a non turbo 4wd coz the pOtential that thing has is HUGE!

U said it 25GTT so dont take too much offense Joe:)

Thing is that the rb25 just doesnt have the raw capacity to push around a car that big. I mean the r31 was ok but i would almost compare the gts to the silvia Q which, in all honesty, just blows(or rather doesnt(if u get my meaning;))) compared to the K.

a gtst with gtr kit is not rice

Ahh thats a fine 'line isnt it (excuse the pun) maybe someone should write up the definative rules of rice

I like the GTR Kit, especially the GTR wing.. looks f*ckin pimp!

but IMO maybe that and a GTR front bar is all..... rear pods, gtr mags, and badges are going WAY too far.... oh, did i mention badges ?

Yeah But What about when the GTR rear wing has "GTR" written on it on your gtst huh?

U can only blame toyota for that one. Same as the old cordia's with the TURBO on the side. Came stock like that so not rice. Must admit i saw one of those cordias with a big ass decepticon sticker on the front u know from tranformers. I did look kinda cool:uh-huh:

the writing on the gtr wing is on removable inserts. alot of the gtr wings ive seen have had this insert replaced with either blank inserts with no writing or nismo carbon fibre inserts with the writing 'nismo.'

but i do agree... if the insert still says gtr... and its on a gtst.. then its rice due the fact that your trying to say your car has better performance than it actually does.

if the guy can beat you in a race, then you can't accuse him of being a riceboy since

a) he beat you

B) you were beaten by a riceboy (not something to brag about!) :P

Who's to say a ricer can't be fast? A NA 911 with a turbo badge is still a ricer.

Say a commodore with a GTR badge handed me my ass, I'd have no problems telling my friends I lost to a riceboy. Being a riceboy is far more shameful than losing a race.

but in any case it all boils down to fact that the person owns a car, it is his property and can therefore do whatever he wants to do with it

Of course, its every individuals right as a human being. So that makes their actions unquestionable? Can't we comment on thier stupidity without being told to shut up?

I have no problem with ricers... until they make a mockery of something I have a vested intrest in. The bad taste of 'line ricers has an impact on Skyline owners everywhere. Heres my proposal: If you're a 'line owner, abuse every 'line ricer you see. That should send the msg across loud and clear- ricing a 'line is not "cool"!

If I got beaten by a Ricer, then I'd be more inclined to believe that the things the guy has done to his car, actually exist

(whether it be advertising a product which is in his car, or putting GTR basdges on his car). If they don't then I'm not gonna go and say anything about the rice he had on his car

you're on one hand saying "Can't we comment on thier stupidity without being told to shut up?" but at the same time saying "Heres my proposal: If you're a 'line owner, abuse every 'line ricer you see. That should send the msg across loud and clear- ricing a 'line is not "cool"!"

there's a difference between passive actions (commenting amongst your mates on the car, and having personal thoughts about it) and actively abusing them

But by you saying stuff like "R33_CAM, you're an Assclown" then thats offensive. It's his car, leave him alone

where you find something crap, there are people out there who don't, and no they aren't all ricers

Some people out there might find your car crap, and I'd say you would be very angry if someone said that your car is a pile of rubbish after you've just spent 20 odd grand on it

btw if a commy has gtr badges on it, then he's not a rice-boy, he's lost the plot altogether

"its their car they can do what they want"

yeh good call :P

its fine if they 'modify' or do anything for that matter, but its when theres an impact on others then theres the problem

if someone rices up a skyline this brings down the skyline name. this not only generates false stereotypes which causes

1)deteriorating the skyline name

and 2)cops see flashing lights on a skyline this will make them notice skylines in general and therefore cause more trouble to us

bottom line is; modify your car all you want BUT as soon as it has an effect on others (like now) expect people to speak up

RIGHT THERE!!!!

Adam said it in a nutshell.

Doin dumbass stuff like that brings down the name the same as rocky 4,5,6 brought down the name of the original and best rocky's. If its good to start with y try and make it bigger and better when u just end up lookin dumb in the end.

Honestly u dont wanna be noticed and that is after all the major goal of the ricer. Remember a few years back when the 'lines were rare as hell and they were almost all completely stock or show cars? that was when they had an air of mystery around them and within a true car enthusiast group u would be respected, not for how it look but for what it is.

Ricers are the epitome of POP in the performance car world. U ppl dont listen to britney spears now do ya? just cause she has a bit of moulded plastic here and there :P (even though i do like watching her clips with my own music playing)

cops are more likely to pull over someone who has an obvious modified car than someone who has put some stickers on it, different badging or whatever on it!!

and you'll get ricers in any car around, from 2CV's with turbo badges on them to skylines with GTR badging

noone can stop it, it will always be there, so why botehr being a penis to them about their cars saying they're bringing down your car name, when there are plenty other people who are in different ways (be it drifting, dragging, abusing...whatever)

rice is not affecting or causing any sort of impact on anyone other than themselves

it's not the concern for cop attention, cops are only interested in people breaking the law in a dangerous way

they aren't going to pull you over and go "GTR hey buddy?"

"umm...no?"

"that's a yellow for you then, ricebitch"

you'll get it for illegal aftermarket mods which everyone has in this forum apart from gr33d, and for the way you drive

if you want to stop cop attention, don't speed etc

I just can't see how people can't see this??

BUAHHAAaaaaaaaaa..... thats classic mate.. got a good laugh out of that one.. ahhaaaa.....

how how do i drive?????????? hmm........

i'll get some mods after a while.... i havent even got my car back from the compliers yet :P my cars dewd stock.... but did u mention how kewl id look:lol: heheeee......

U are mostly correct with that one psiko. The cops issue is kinda BS and ure grasping at straws there by trying to say cops give a dam.

I believe ricing is evil for only one reason and that is that it destroys the natural beauty of the car. Why do u think nissan creates concept cars and has a team of engineers working on it and product testing it. What makes some idiot think that he can make it better by puttin 20k of fibreglass on it?

Next time u go to the louvre bring along a neon light and hang it above the 'mona lisa' bet u a million bucks it makes it look like crap.

hahaha i think this thread is gonna get pretty big:lol:

i rekon ppl dont need to go to the point of yelling out abuse to other drivers of 'lines, i mean a 'line is a 'line, whether its got stickers, neons, stuffed unicorn (R34:D), dog with nodding head, haha, GTR wing, i have only ever seen ppl of other car makes yelling abuse (ie: ford at holden and viceversa), i mean come on we all probably drive fairly decent cars, no matter what it is, whats a sticker or a couple of neons?? but if skyline drivers are seen yelling abuse out all over the place, thats the thing thats gonna give us a bad name, not a few stickers.

    • From there, it is really just test and assemble. Plug the adapter cables from the unit into the back of the screen, then the other side to the car harness. Don't forget all the other plugs too! Run the cables behind the unit and screw it back into place (4 screws) and you should now have 3 cables to run from the top screen to the android unit. I ran them along the DS of the other AV units in the gap between their backets and the console, and used some corrugated tubing on the sharp edges of the bracket so the wires were safe. Plug the centre console and lower screen in temporarily and turn the car to ACC, the AV should fire up as normal. Hold the back button for 3 sec and Android should appear on the top screen. You need to set the input to Aux for audio (more on that later). I put the unit under the AC duct in the centre console, with the wifi antenna on top of the AC duct near the shifter, the bluetooth antenna on the AC duct under the centre console The GPS unit on top of the DS to AC duct; they all seem to work OK there are are out of the way. Neat cable routing is a pain. For the drive recorder I mounted it near the rear view mirror and run the cable in the headlining, across the a pillar and then down the inside of the a pillar seal to the DS lower dash. From there it goes across and to one USB input for the unit. The second USB input is attached to the ECUtec OBD dongle and the 3rd goes to the USB bulkhead connected I added in the centre console. This is how the centre console looks "tidied" up Note I didn't install the provided speaker, didn't use the 2.5mm IPod in line or the piggyback loom for the Ipod or change any DIP switches; they seem to only be required if you need to use the Ipod input rather than the AUX input. That's it, install done, I'll follow up with a separate post on how the unit works, but in summary it retains all factory functions and inputs (so I still use my phone to the car for calls), reverse still works like factory etc.
    • Place the new daughterboard in the case and mount it using the 3 small black rivets provided, and reconnect the 3 factory ribbon cables to the new board Then, use the 3 piggyback cables from the daughterboard into the factory board on top (there are stand offs in the case to keep them apart. and remember to reconnect the antenna and rear cover fan wires. 1 screw to hold the motherboard in place. Before closing the case, make a hole in the sticker covering a hole in the case and run the cable for the android unit into the plug there. The video forgot this step, so did I, so will you probably. Then redo the 4 screws on back, 2 each top and bottom, 3 each side and put the 2 brackets back on.....all ready to go and not that tricky really.
    • Onto the android unit. You need to remove the top screen because there is a daughterboard to put inside the case. Each side vent pops out from clips; start at the bottom and carefully remove upwards (use a trim remover tool to avoid breaking anything). Then the lower screen and controls come out, 4 screws, a couple of clips (including 3 flimsy ones at the top) and 3 plugs on the rear. Then the upper screen, 4 screws and a bunch of plugs and she is out. From there, remove the mounting brackets (2 screws each), 4 screws on the rear, 2 screws top and bottom and 3 screws holding in the small plates on each side. When you remove the back cover (tight fit), watch out for the power cable for the fan, I removed it so I could put the back aside. The mainboard is held in by 1 screw in the middle, 1 aerial at the top and 3 ribbon cables. If you've ever done any laptop stuff the ribbon cables are OK to work with, just pop up the retainer and they slide out. If you are not familiar just grab a 12 year old from an iphone factory, they will know how it works The case should now look like this:
    • Switching the console was tricky. First there were 6 screws to remove, and also the little adapter loom and its screws had to come out. Also don't forget to remove the 2 screws holding the central locking receiver. Then there are 4 clips on either side....these were very tight in this case and needed careful persuading with a long flat screw driver....some force required but not enough to break them...this was probably the fiddliest part of the whole job. In my case I needed both the wiring loom and the central locking receiver module to swap across to the new one. That was it for the console, so "assembly is the reverse of disassembly"
    • But first....while I was there, I also swapped across the centre console box for the other style where the AV inputs don't intrude into the (very limited !) space.  Part# was 96926-4GA0A, 284H3-4GA0B, 284H3-4GA0A. (I've already swapped the top 12v socket for a USB bulkhead in this pic, it fit the hole without modification:) Comparison of the 2: Basically to do the console you need to remove the DS and PS side console trim (they slide up and back, held in by clips only) Then remove the back half of the console top trim with the cupholders, pops up, all clips again but be careful at the front as it is pretty flimsy. Then slide the shifter boot down, remove the spring clip, loose it forever somewhere in the car the pull the shift knob off. Remove the tiny plastic piece on DS near "P" and use something thin and long (most screwdrivers won't fit) to push down the interlock and put the shifter down in D for space. There is one screw at the front, then the shifter surround and ashtray lift up. There are 3 or 4 plugs underneath and it is off. Next is the rear cover of the centre console; you need to open the console lid, pop off the trim covering the lid hinge and undo the 2rd screw from the driver's side (the rest all need to come out later so you can do them all now and remove the lid) Then the rear cover unclips (6 clips), start at the top with a trim tool pulling backwards. Once it is off there are 2 screws facing rearwards to remove (need a short phillips for these) and you are done with the rear of the console. There are 4 plugs at the A/V box to unclip Then there are 2 screws at the front of the console, and 2 clips (pull up and back) and the console will come out.
