Automatic Transmission Shift Kit. - Updated Oct 2006

Recommended Posts

I have a 34 and I'm in.  I'll be speaking to mike today so I'll post back here.

sweet... let me know if u get any details.

but i had thought u werent gonna be part of the groupbuy and go direct to MV.

anyways, all sounds good.

Ok, just spoke to him then.

He can't find any valvebodies for R34 so we have to send our own down. About a week turnaround and I got the impression he would do his best to look after us knowing that our cars would be off the road to get it done.

So whens this look to be going ahead 4door?

Im just eager i guess

I know its fairly straight forward, but is some installation info going to be provided by mike?

Will an upgrade to a better trans fluid cooler be necessary? If so, how much does one usually cost?

Will an improvement in acceleration be seen even on a lightly modded/stock R33?

well i hope this goes ahead soon, b/c i've already got a week scheduled for my car to be off the road anyway.

so its perfect timing if this goes ahead.

now i just need to find a reputable place in melbourne to complete the works on my auto-box.

Not necessary but a good idea, you can get new 19 row coolers for about $150 so it doesnt cost alot especially if you do it yourself.

The shift kit will most definately make the car faster, how much faster im not sure, but im estimating it will take atleast 2 10ths of a second off my 1/4 times in the cars current mod level.

So does anyone know when the group buy going ahead

im ready to go.

x2

Can u tell us what we're sposed to do 4door?

Do we call up MV and tell them we're part of the group buy for the RE401A upgraded valvebody + Service kit.

K I'm in. I need my car over the next 2 weekends but after that I can pull it off the road and strip. Or can we buy this and just send our old ones a week or 2 later to get our deposit back?

I've been wanting to do the manula conversion but after reading the artical I'm more interested in doing this.

OK guys, the final prices are posted. (prices posted above and below)

WinK - yes you can keep your valve body, but can we do your order in the second group so others aren't held up when Mike only has 3 valve bodies in stock.

Price $295 + $50deposit on your valve body (refunded upon the return of your old, but still servicable, valve body)

Postage Costs (5.5kg) with TnT - $22 to Melb, $28 to Syd Perth or Bris (each way)

Service Kit $33 - dont skimp, get one of these if you can (either from Mike or from whoever installs the valve body for you)

The easiest way to organise payment is to ring Mike at MV Automatics (08) 8370 0430 - (the price is already discounted so there is no benifit in transfering it to my account and then me paying him, and its better insurance for you to deal direct with the supplier) and give credit card details to him. If you dont have a credit card PM me and transfer the money to my account and I will pay him for you.

Good news for owners of R34s

these can be done (one at a time) for the same price, Mike will get a valve body soon and modify it for us but at this stage he is reluctant to get 4 or 5 of them at once, so there will be a bit of a delay, but they can also be ordered.

Phone MV automatics (08) 8370 0430 and mention that you are a part of the GROUP BUY from Skylines Australia, and that the prices are $295 + deposit and shipping.

    • Thank you, 100% the intent. New coils were due and the 17" sixers look/feel loads better than the stock wheels. The aero options are so spot on.   Thanks for the warm welcome, all!
    • 98 r34 gtt Been rocking my latest setup and car running like never before. Have put a good 200 miles on it since all the latest changes and additions. everything is dialed in and have been driving it a bunch.   However, all a sudden last weekend as soon as I pushed throttle passed 4k and the engine stumbles, (slow or fast acceleration) hesitates and doesn’t go above 4100 or so, like a misfire. Everything else seems fine. I had a “good” set of coil packs that I removed from car when I first got it when I changed them over to new coils. I swapped out current ones for those, but no change. I also changed the plugs, no change. Seems to rev over 4 when out of gear with no load just fine no “misfire”, but as soon as its in gear with a load of any kind, it “misfires” as soon as rpm drop back below 4 k it runs perfectly, smooth, starts, restarts and drives fine as long as I keep it below 4 k while in gear. All readings look fine, no CEL   Any idea as to what could all a sudden cause an issue when pushing rpms passed 4 k?
    • When you say your cams are 272/262 is that 272in and 262ex?
    • We're arguing semantics. I am saying 45 accel and a 55 deccel ramp are "2 ways". Even a 45 degree ramp and an 89 degree ramp is "2 ways", because it is literally... two ways. The cusco 55/30 ramp is a 2 way. It's two ways. I get it though - in normal nomenclature a "2 way" would be 45/45 or 55/55 or 60/60 i.e the same locking in both directions. And something like 45/65 would be considered "1.5 way". I would then say if we're getting into the nitty gritty then every locking diff is a "2 way" diff and we should not speak in 1.5, or 2 ways but ramp angles instead. Which ofc if one of those ramp angles is 90deg, that side is not doing any locking. :p So Nismo don't obviously sell 3 things. The fact of the matter that they only sell two items really goes to show that there's a 2 way and a "1,5 way" which is really a 1 way. I believe the actual lockup for the 'adjustability' of the GT pro is really just setting preload for when the ramps actually start locking up. It's not changing how much 'wayness' there is. It is (somehow) horribly explained. People just buy whatever diff and go "locks up good bruh" and that's what ends up on socials forever.
